Director of Operations

Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden

Director of Operations

Austin, TX
Full Time
Paid
  • Responsibilities

Hi, my name is Ben Siegel and I’m the owner of Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden. At the end of 2018 we completed a huge expansion of our existing restaurant and the response from the public has been tremendous. Though our growth this year has been substantial, the reality is, where we are today pales in comparison to the opportunities that lay in front of us.

So, we are currently seeking a leader. A leader that can not only handle the level of business and complexity the organization has today, but someone with the necessary skills and experience to take us through our next phase of growth and evolution. A leader who believes it all starts with people, culture and building a great team. A strategic problem solver who can create straightforward systems. Someone that can zoom out and work “on the business” but isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and work in the business when that’s what’s needed.

Why You Should Want This Job

Banger’s is a single unit restaurant and the only restaurant I own. It’s been more successful than I ever imagined it could be. As a result, we get offered opportunities for new locations quite often. While I have every confidence we could roll the concept out nationally, if that’s what we decided to do, I have absolutely no interest in doing that. The way I see it, there are two ways that you can grow a business -- inward or outward. I’m interested in inward growth. I’m obsessed with figuring out how good we can make this thing, and my goal is to find someone that wants to not only go on that journey, but also has what it takes to lead the charge. I’m looking for someone that wants to dive all in and create something truly great, in one of the best cities in America.

    About Us

As our name implies, Banger’s is a sausage house and beer garden located on Rainey Street in Downtown Austin, Texas. We opened our doors in 2012, and we finished a large expansion on the lot adjacent to us at the end of 2018. The expansion includes 101 more taps (giving us 202 total, which is the largest tap wall in the state of Texas), a beer cellar for aging beers, a pickling facility, a meat curing facility, and a small scale meat processing facility for whole animal butchery and fresh sausage production. We also built a standalone smokehouse that operates as the first whole hog BBQ in Texas history. The whole facility doubles as a live music and private event center that gives us a standing room occupancy of 1,800 people. With this expansion, we can now accommodate four 300-person parties simultaneously, which is pretty exciting (and also kind of terrifying). So, while this is technically “one” restaurant, it’s an absolute beast of a restaurant with a lot of moving parts.
