We’re a growing bankruptcy law firm focused on helping clients move from stress and uncertainty to stability and a fresh start. We’re looking for an attorney who is thoughtful, accountable, and motivated to do meaningful work for people who truly need it. This is a role for someone who takes ownership of their work, follows through, and is always looking for ways to improve, both personally and professionally. You won’t be micromanaged, but you will be expected to stay engaged, keep cases moving, and contribute to the team. You should be comfortable stepping into work you already know how to do and equally willing to learn what you don’t. Initiative matters here. So does consistency. This is a remote position with occasional in-person court appearances in Austin, San Antonio, and Waco. The role is full-time (40 hours/week). Compensation ranges from $80,000 to $95,000, depending on experience. In addition, this role includes a performance-based bonus structure with the potential to earn up to $4,000 per month. Responsibilities: • Draft correspondence, legal pleadings, motions, and briefs • Argue motions in court on behalf of clients during legal proceedings • Complete legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, and briefs • Supervise administrative staff, paralegals, and law clerks • Provide legal counsel to clients by analyzing their needs and determining a proper course of action Client Case Review & Strategy • Thoroughly review client files to ensure financial information is accurate and complete in bankruptcy filings • Identify potential issues and develop pre-filing strategies tailored to each client’s situation • Counsel clients on their options and the bankruptcy process, ensuring they understand their path forward Case Management & Workflow • Help manage case pipelines to prevent bottlenecks and keep cases moving efficiently through document collection and production • Ensure all case deadlines are met, and matters are progressing appropriately • Regularly report case statuses, issues, and questions to a managing attorney Legal Review & Filings • Meticulously review bankruptcy documents prepared by the team for accuracy and compliance with the Bankruptcy Code and local rules • Review and finalize Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 means tests and Chapter 13 plans • Review and respond to motions, objections, and proofs of claim Client Communication & Representation • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients via email, phone, and Zoom to address questions, resolve issues, and prepare them for key milestones (including 341 meetings) • Attend 341 meetings of creditors and other hearings as required (some in person) Qualifications: • Required Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school; representation of clients for at least 2 years a plus • Must be a member of your local bar association - active member preferred • Advanced computer skills working with legal research programs (Westlaw and Lexis) required • Prior experience working in a law firm for a minimum of 1-2 years required • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite is necessary • Licensed to practice law in Texas • Admitted to practice in the Federal Court, admission to the districts in Texas is preferred • Eighteen months of experience as a bankruptcy attorney managing clients, case preparation, and post-filing tasks • Chapter 13 experience is preferred but not required; however, you must be proficient in Chapter 7s and ready to hit the ground running to learn Chapter 13s Compensation: $80,000 to $95,000, depending on experience.
