Banyan Search is exclusively searching for a Controller for a wonderful manufacturing/construction company located outside (East) of Raleigh, NC. Our client is a growing organization with an exciting manufacturing business within the construction industry. The Controller will need to be comfortable working in a small company setting, which includes being hands-on and wearing multiple hats.

Responsibilities will include:

• Lead and direct all general accounting and financial activities of the company
• Responsible for all financial reporting, balance sheet management, cash management within Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Direct manufacturing financial operations that will lead to better understanding of financial performance, cost drivers, variances, distribution costs and anything that impacts the financial results of the company
• Implement financial systems that improve financial reporting and leads to better understanding of financial results
• Effectively communicate financial results to executives and operational leadership
• Implement processes to improve efficiency and ensure appropriate controls are in place
• Manage all capital expenditure approvals
• Ensure all manufacturing costs are accounted for correctly, and lead reporting of cost analysis, gross margin and inventory valuation
• Work with internal and external customers (including outside public accounting firms and banking partners) to support and provide reporting and analysis as needed
• Assume additional responsibilities of the company as needed

The Controller will play a critical role within this company and exceptional leadership and communication skills are required. In addition, the candidate should have:

• BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or related field
• CPA strongly preferred
• 7+ years of experience within public accounting and/or a small to medium sized manufacturing corporation/plant
• ERP implementation experience a plus
• Exceptional cost accounting / manufacturing experience with proven leadership within a manufacturing (Plant Controllership experience preferred)
• Lean / Six Sigma experience a plus
