    Bettola is one of Rhode Island's best restaurants featuring a full bar, varied Italian menu and amazing staff. Within the first year of operations, Bettola earned the title of Best Pizza in Rhode Island and has since added 4 more awards to that title!

    We are looking for a hard-working Bar Back/Service Bartender that is willing to help our team push through our busy nights. Teamwork is an essential part of our operation, so working well with others is a requirement. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to learn to bartend or make a little extra for two nights a week in a dynamic, friendly environment.

    This is a tipped position paid nightly. Hourly pay is paid weekly on Fridays.

    Position Overview: The Bar Back plays a crucial role in the operations of our bar, ensuring that all aspects of the bar function smoothly by providing necessary support to bartenders and maintaining a well-stocked and organized bar. The Bar Back at Bettola also works service bar, mixing cocktails, pouring beers, wines, sodas and more. This position demands strong organizational skills, the ability to handle physical tasks, and a proactive attitude.

    Key Qualifications:

    • Experienced in stocking and replenishing the bar with necessary supplies, including alcohol, glassware, and ice. • Ability to prepare and organize beverages and components such as mixes, garnishes, and other drink necessities. • Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. • Capable of transporting heavy items like kegs and cases of beverages safely and efficiently. • Comfortable with frequent exposure to various liquids and proficient in using bar equipment like knives and blenders. • Excellent communication skills, capable of understanding and executing written and spoken instructions. • Strong multitasking skills, able to remain composed and efficient in a fast-paced, stressful environment. • Physical ability to work in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and stand or walk for extended periods, including navigating potential tripping hazards.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist in enhancing the overall guest experience by anticipating needs and maintaining a high level of service within the bar area. • Welcome and interact with guests using a friendly and sincere approach. • Responsible for the careful and safe changing of beer kegs, CO2 tanks, and soda dispensers. • Wash and sanitize glassware thoroughly, adhering to health and sanitation standards. • Identify signs of intoxication in guests and consult with management regarding any concerns. • Provide knowledgeable responses to inquiries about the menu and bar offerings. • Adhere to all operational steps of service and follow special dietary and allergy-related procedures. • Comply with all health and safety guidelines, complete required training programs such as alcohol awareness. • Work collaboratively with the bar team and other staff members. • Work service bar, knowledgeable on our drink recipes and types of alcohol, beer and wine.

    • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the bar.
