  • Responsibilities

    IT HARDWARE TECHNICIAN

    The IT Hardware Technician will work closely with organizational operational areas and IT staff members to ensure hardware devices and peripheral equipment are performing at optimal levels. This individual is responsible for the configuration, installation and maintenance of computer hardware devices including desktops, workstations, notebooks, netbooks, iPads, printers, scanners, and other peripherals and adaptive technology devices as assigned. This individual will respond and provide timely resolution to computers issues as requested thru the IT Help Desk. Additionally, this individual will have primary responsibility to support the PC Inventory database, maintaining current device master images and is responsible for ensuring correct configurations of BNI specific applications are installed on devices.

    RESPONSIBILITIES OF IT HARDWARE TECHNICIAN INCLUDE:

    • Manages the inventory of applications and software that is used on devices and assures compliance with appropriate contracted licensing consistent with all Barber National Institute policies and procedures.
    • Performs in-depth analysis and maintenance on desktops, laptops, notebooks, netbooks, printers, peripheral equipment, and other computer related hardware. Equipment may be located at multiple locations to include remote sites and group homes.
    • Configures, installs, and supports current images of the inventory of PCs, laptops, notebooks, netbooks and other peripherals located within the current inventory.
    • Responds to Help Desk inquiries.
    • Provides phone/and or onsite support to troubleshoot reported problems and provide timely resolution assistance. Escalates unresolved issues to Senior staff or Management as required.
    • Completes timely documentation to include resolution in the Ticket Tracking System for assigned Help Desk problems.
    • Installs, as assigned, service line specific software packages and assists with reported hardware issues.
    • Coordinates and assists with the implementation of IS related projects.
    • Maintain current knowledge of HIPAA regulations, state and local requirements, and demonstrates knowledge in systems compliance
    • Works with the network administrator or IS management with the identification of enterprise exposure of virus, malware, or any threats to BNI assets. Assists in the removal and remediation of threats to network.
    • Works collaboratively with end users providing guidance and develops end user training as required, to facilitate user competencies with computer hardware and desktop software/utilities.
    • Prioritizes workload and completes projects using effective time management practices.
    • Provides and maintains asset inventory documentation related to software and hardware systems under their control.
    • Assumes support responsibility for enrolling devices in Mobile Device Management, encrypting mobile devices and ensuring IT staff are provided documentation with up-to-date additions, changes, and deletions of BNI assets.
    • Guides and assists Hardware Technician I staff with IS projects.
    • Serves as back up to provide support for Mobile Device Management, Wireless Access Point management and network user passwords control.

    QUALIFICATIONS OF IT HARDWARE TECHNICIAN: 

    • Associates degree in computer science or related field.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with end users to resolve computer related hardware and software issues.
    • Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite products is required.
    • Knowledge of computer networking is required.
    • Experience with LAN/WAN networks is desirable.
    • Good working knowledge of internet security and data privacy principals is desirable.
    • Demonstration of effective verbal and written communication.
    • Excellent teamwork, time management, and collaboration skills.
    • Must be detail oriented and possess advanced problem-solving skills.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pound equipment and objects on a regular basis.
