POSITION SUMMARY: The Staff Engineer performs analyses and related design work as part of our project execution from inception to shipment. Typically, the Staff Engineer develops deep expertise in one or more areas of turbomachinery that allows them to apply engineering principles and practices in areas of assignments. Assignments for this position will include turbomachinery analytical work in the area of structural analysis, vibration, rotordynamics, bearings, seals, heat transfer, and/or thermodynamics.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Lead analytical efforts to meet all requirements, including technical capability, schedule milestones, and budgetary constraints.
    • Resolve technical challenges through deep technical knowledge of one or more aspects of turbomachinery and related electromechanical systems
    • Effectively function in a team environment to drive organizational success and improve BNI processes. Delegate work and provide oversight to more junior Staff Engineers.

    QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required.

    _   Education and Training_

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience working in high aptitude manufacturing environment.

    _   Experience:_

    Minimum eight years related experience and/or training in a project engineer role.

    Proven rotating machinery expertise and experience with associated systems.

    Comprehensive understanding of rotating machinery design, analysis, test, and troubleshooting.

    Comprehensive understanding in the following applicable areas of turbomachinery design:

    • Structural Analysis
    • Rotordynamics/Vibration
    • Thermal Analysis
    • Bearings
    • Seals
    • Thermodynamics

    _   Other:_

    • Must be willing to work overtime as required.
    • Travel up to 10% of working time.

    DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATION:

    • Experience in Ansys and Solidworks.
    • Applicable training certificates (FEA, CFD, etc) and successful completion of the Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) or Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) are desirable. 
    • A Colorado State Professional Engineer License is desirable.
