    POSITION DETAILS:

    The Project Engineer (Turbomachinery) will provide oversight on programs from inception to shipment.  Utilizes project management and technical skill sets to develop custom turbomachinery products and related systems in diverse industries.  These products include rocket turbopumps, turbine-alternators, turbocompressors, motor driven turbomachinery, auxiliary power units, cryogenic circulators, and various heat engines.  Detailed tasks include providing input to sales proposals, project management, serving as the primary customer interface, coordinating detailed engineering design and analysis, providing oversight during hardware fabrication, developing and executing test plans, and driving organizational awareness for project resource needs.  

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead increasingly challenging projects to develop custom turbomachinery and related systems.      
    • Project management that includes developing customer relationships, developing and executing detailed project plans, managing scope and specifications, developing and meeting schedule milestones and budgetary commitments, identifying and mitigating risks, cross-organizational communication, and serving as the primary customer interface. 
    • Project engineering for turbomachinery and related systems that requires broad knowledge, technical leadership, and coordination of the following areas:
    • o New product development and design for manufacture.
    • o Detailed turbomachinery design from conceptual layout to detailed fabrication drawings.
    • o Detailed turbomachinery analysis including aerodynamic, structural, rotordynamics, bearings, seals, and secondary flow.
    • o Assembly, testing, and field commissioning.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required.

    Education and Training

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

    Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years related experience.
    • Demonstrated experience in project management.  
    • Demonstrated engineering experience for rotating machinery projects that include custom design and analysis phases.

    Other:

    • Must be willing to work overtime as required.
    • Travel up to 10% of working time.

    DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATION:

    • Experience in Microsoft Project and ERP software.
    • Applicable training certificates (PMP, etc) and successful completion of the Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) or Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) are desirable. 
    • A Colorado State Professional Engineer License is desirable.

    WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE

    Must be able to work in the U.S without sponsorship. Ability to obtain US government security clearance is required.
