    Position Summary

    The Head Barista is responsible for overseeing daily coffee operations, maintaining high beverage quality standards, supervising barista staff, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience. This role combines hands-on coffee preparation with leadership, training, and operational responsibilities.

    Key Responsibilities

    Coffee & Beverage Quality

    Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based drinks and other beverages

    Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and technique

    Dial in espresso and maintain grinders daily

    Monitor coffee freshness and inventory levels

    Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area

    Team Leadership & Training

    Supervise and support barista team during shifts

    Train new hires on drink preparation, customer service, and workflow

    Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback

    Create staff schedules (if required)

    Foster a positive, collaborative team culture

    Operations & Equipment

    Oversee daily opening and closing procedures

    Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of espresso machines and equipment

    Troubleshoot minor equipment issues

    Coordinate with management regarding repairs or supply needs

    Customer Experience

    Deliver excellent customer service and handle customer concerns professionally

    Maintain a welcoming and inclusive café atmosphere

    Build relationships with regular customers

    Inventory & Ordering

    Track coffee, milk, syrups, and supply levels

    Assist with ordering and vendor coordination

    Minimize waste and control costs

    Qualifications

    2+ years of barista experience (lead or supervisory experience preferred)

    Strong knowledge of espresso extraction, milk texturing, and brewing methods

    Leadership and team management skills

    Excellent communication and customer service skills

    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

    Flexible schedule (including weekends and holidays)

    Preferred Skills

    Knowledge of specialty coffee standards

    Experience with POS systems and cash handling

    Food safety certification

    Latte art proficiency

    Working Conditions

    Standing for extended periods

    Lifting up to 25 lbs

    Early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
