The barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality hot and cold beverages—primarily coffee and espresso-based drinks—while delivering exceptional customer service, managing transactions, and maintaining a clean, well-stocked café environment. They operate specialized machinery, educate customers on menu items, and ensure compliance with food safety regulations. Responsibilities: • Beverage Preparation: Expertly preparing coffee, tea, and specialty drinks (e.g., lattes, cappuccinos) according to established recipes and techniques. • Customer Service: Greeting customers warmly, taking orders accurately, answering questions about menu ingredients, and handling feedback professionally. • Operations & Maintenance: Operating espresso machines, grinders, and brewers; cleaning and sanitizing equipment,, work areas, and seating areas. • POS & Inventory: Processing cash and credit card transactions accurately, and restocking coffee beans, pastries, and supplies. • Efficiency: Handling high-volume, fast-paced service while maintaining quality and cleanliness. Qualifications: • Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating espresso machines and brewing equipment, including the ability to create latte art. • Customer-Focused: Friendly, positive, and polite attitude with strong interpersonal skills. • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow precise recipes and ingredient ratios. • Physical Stamina: Capacity to stand for long periods and lift, push, or pull, typically up to 30-50 pounds. • Experience: Previous experience in hospitality, retail, or food service is often preferred, but many employers offer on-the-job training. Physical and Environmental Demands • Working in a fast-paced environment that requires multitasking under pressure. • Standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift. • Adherence to strict hygiene and safety regulations.
