The French Pantry at 36 Granada is a locally owned, upscale casual restaurant and café in the heart of historic downtown St. Augustine, just steps from the Lightner Museum. We’re known for our Parisian‑style breakfast, signature coffees, freshly baked breads, pastries, and some of the best desserts in town, served all day in a beautiful, lively space. As hands-on local owner–operators, we care deeply about craft, genuine hospitality, and building a strong, stable team.

We’re hiring a Barista / Pastry Counter team member to be the face of our morning and daytime service at The French Pantry. You’ll pull espresso shots, serve pastries and desserts, help guests with breakfast and coffee orders, and keep our pastry counter and coffee bar looking sharp from open to close. This role can be full-time or part-time, with competitive pay based on experience, plus tips.

    What you’ll do

Welcome every guest with a warm, genuine greeting and guide them through our coffees, pastries, and desserts.

Prepare espresso drinks, drip coffee, and other beverages to consistent quality standards using our recipes and equipment.

Serve and plate pastries, desserts, and grab‑and‑go items, making simple, confident recommendations.

Ring in orders accurately, handle cashless payments (we accept cards and digital wallets only), and keep the line moving smoothly.

Maintain a clean, well‑stocked pastry case and coffee station, including restocking, labeling, and rotating product.

Support the front‑of‑house team with light bussing, resetting tables, and general cleaning to keep the restaurant looking its best.

    What we’re looking for

Prior barista, bakery, café, or counter-service experience is a plus, especially in a busy environment, but we’ll train the right person with strong hospitality instincts.

Genuine interest in great coffee, pastries, and French‑inspired food.

Strong communication skills and a guest‑first mindset.

Reliability and professionalism—you show up on time, ready to work, and ready to support your team.

Comfort standing for most of your shift and lifting up to ~25 lbs for restocking and moving product.

Morning availability is especially valuable, since we serve breakfast from 7:00–10:00 a.m. and coffee/pastries all day.

    Why you’ll love working here

Competitive pay + tips that reflect the pace and quality of service we expect.

Upscale casual, high‑energy environment with a strong reputation and steady demand.

Local ownership on site, invested in your growth and the long‑term success of the team.

Be part of the broader 36 Granada family alongside Little Miss Ha, Cache Cache, and La Petite Kitchen—lots of room to learn and grow.
