We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Barista to join our team at the Washington University in St. Louis campus location. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience preparing high-quality coffee beverages, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a clean and efficient café environment. This position requires strong multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering an outstanding guest experience while serving students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Qualifications - Required
• Minimum of one full year of barista experience in a coffee shop, café, restaurant, or similar environment. • Experience preparing espresso beverages, specialty coffee drinks, and basic latte art. • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills. • Experience operating POS systems and handling cash transactions. • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. • Reliable attendance and punctuality. • Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and university events as needed.
Qualifications – Preferred
• Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain certification. • Experience working in a college, university, or high-volume food service environment. • Experience training or mentoring new employees.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly. • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements associated with beverage preparation. • Ability to work efficiently during peak business periods while maintaining quality and accuracy.
