    Job Description

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    The Payroll Accountant supports The Finance PBH-West Coast Vice President with account financial operations from beginning to end. Performs general ledger accounting journal entries, account reconciliation, gross margin reporting and management reporting, as necessary and balancing of departmental accounts.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

    PAYROLL FUNCTIONS:

    • Maintains and balances an automated consolidation system by inputting data
    • Scheduling required jobs
    • Verifying data (payroll and inventory)
    • Reviews and verifies time sheets. Prepares management reports regarding payroll.
    • Investigates and resolves payroll discrepancies.
    • Prepares and maintains compliance with government laws on payroll accounting and taxes.
    • Reconciling available vacation and sick hours.
    • Prepares and distributes daily overtime reporting to management team.
    • Maintains an organized payroll filing system. Maintains confidentiality of all records.
    • Assists in training employees on payroll system functionality.
    • Responsible for ongoing ERP system processes creations.
    • Oversees and maintains documentation and reporting for wage meal break violations.
    • Supports and work with Human Resources team in audits, special projects, report generation and analysis.

    FINANCE FUNCTIONS:

    • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
    • Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheets reports; verifies information.
    • Creates and maintains labor database for KDC-One Thibiant and staffing agencies for management analysis.
    • Responsible for Ad Hoc reporting for bonus, headcount, and direct labor (UDLH) cost management.
    • Maintains Key Performance Indicator reporting for inventory and labor analysis.
    • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation reports.
    • Assist/Prepare in general ledger month-end closing journal entries.
    • Assist in compiling working papers and support for financial audit fieldwork requests.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs.
    • Capable of standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
    • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field is required
    • Minimum 10+ years’ Staff Accountant role experience in Consumer Products; preferably in cosmetics process manufacturing or an FDA regulated industry.
    • Required Advanced knowledge in QAD or other comparable ERP/MRP systems.
    • General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Extensive knowledge and understanding in Wage and Labor Laws.
    • Required Advanced reporting, designing and data analytic skills. Strong math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
    • Advance PC Knowledge i.e. MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required.
    • Extensive experience understanding and use of Excel i.e. pivot tables, v-lookups and uploading/downloading of data from other systems.
    • Demonstration of continual education. Attends seminars or reads training materials for continuing education and shows initiative in learning industry trends.
    • Ability to lead, thinks strategically, set, and achieve objectives, and influence organizational change. Strong time-management, organizational, planning people and leadership skills.
    • Constantly work to improve processes and consistently reviews all existing procedures for possible change, maintains and expands technical knowledge. Makes suggestions for improvements
    • Strong English communications skills: speaking, reading, and writing. Ability to communicate clearly and thoroughly with Management and personnel and interpersonal relationships with employees at all levels.
    • Willingness to participate in continuous process improvement, innovation, and elimination of Non-value-added tasks.
