    Job Title: Bartender

    FLSA Status (US): Hourly Pay range: minimum wage plus tips

    Direct Oversight: Restaurant Operations

    Reports To: General Manager

    Job Summary:

    Our Bartender team members are our brand ambassadors, ensuring guests experience a fun, relaxed and exceptional dining experience. Bartenders are expected to be approachable, friendly, hospitable and professional, ensuring JINYA’s service standards are properly executed. Bartenders are responsible for ensuring our guests receive the best dining experience through execution of steps of service. All bartenders work in unison, contributing to the guests’ dining experience by providing amazing service and full menu knowledge.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    Bartenders serve guests professionally and positively, including but not limited to taking guest food and beverage orders, delivering food and beverages, and ensuring an exceptional dining experience.

    Utilize JINYA’s steps of service, up-selling techniques, and proper menu knowledge, guiding guests to daily specials, ensuring dietary needs, and delighting our guests with our unique offering of ramen and tapas

    Greet guests as they arrive, ensuring proper seating arrangements and reservations, and check in or provide a wait-list time, if necessary. Engage with guests to ensure a great dining experience

    Embrace the JINYA culture and participate in collective proper company greeting, such as “Irasshai” and “Arigato”

    Communicate clearly and concisely, positively and professionally with guests and team members, both front and back of the house operations. Answer phone calls, take reservations, and assign guests to proper tables while maintaining consistent server rotation, when needed

    Ensure the cleanliness of the service station, including any area visible to guests upon seating

    Support team members in front-of-house operations, such as refilling beverages, organizing table arrangements, table maintenance, polishing plates or glasses, resetting tables, or other necessary items as requested or needed

    Respond to minor guest complaints, and alert management of any major or critical guests or service concerns

    Know restaurant information, such as hours of operations, menu, allergies, table numbers, payment options, and any relevant information to the operations of the restaurant

    Promote and execute JINYA’s core values of Teamwork, Hospitality, Authenticity, Creativity, and Integrity

    Complete projects and/or tasks as requested or required by manager(s) or supervisor(s)

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

    Minimum 2-3 years bartender experience, preferably in a high-volume atmosphere

    Outstanding and professional verbal and written skills, with a strong ability to multitask.

    Positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence

    Willing to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification, if needed

    Understanding or experience in operating a POS system or Host System (OpenTable or similar)

    Ability to lead by example, inspire and motivate team spirit, and effectively present information in one-on-one settings and/or small group situations

    Must be dependable and reliable. Self-motivated and self-initiated to ensure the restaurant is clean and presentable to guests

    Experience working in a multi-cultural environment

    Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

    Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time. Able to safely lift and easily maneuver through the restaurant with limited space

    Required Education:

    Be able to write and speak English

    Must have appropriate city, state, and federal certifications according tothe location of the restaurant, including alcohol and food handling certificates

    Work Environment:

    This job operates in a fun yet professional restaurant environment. This role routinely moves inside and outside of the kitchen and operates tools such as trays, glassware, plates, and other restaurant equipment. Bartenders will occasionally ascend/descend the ladder to reach overhead items, if needed. Servers will frequently communicate with staff, guests and other team members; must be able to exchange accurate and factual information in all cases.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. The team member is required to frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Team members must be able to distinguish between sweet, savory, and other food flavors. Team members will work indoor and outdoor environments, which might be hot, humid, and wet. Be able to reach, bend, and frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
