Job Summary
KUZA Bartenders deliver a polished, modern Japanese-American beverage experience through precise cocktail execution, curated product knowledge, and elevated hospitality. This role blends hands-on mixology with an expectation of cultural awareness, menu fluency, and an energetic presence behind the bar. Bartenders support the dining room and bar by maintaining high standards for speed, cleanliness, creativity, and guest connection.
Key Responsibilities
Bartending & Beverage Execution
Prepare KUZA craft cocktails with accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.
Maintain expertise in KUZA’s Japanese-inspired ingredients, spirits, garnishes, syrups, and techniques.
Provide thoughtful recommendations on cocktails, sake, Japanese whisky, beer, and N/A beverages.
Maintain organized wells, clean workstations, and properly stocked prep and garnish areas.
Participate in batching, syrup production, juicing, and prep specific to KUZA’s beverage program.
Guest Experience & Hospitality
Deliver KUZA’s signature balance of warmth, precision, and high-level hospitality.
Engage guests with confident product knowledge and a polished, professional presence.
Manage bar guests with attentiveness, pacing, and strong conversational awareness.
Provide informed guidance on menu items, flavor profiles, allergens, and pairings.
Team Support & Collaboration
Support Servers through timely drink production and seamless communication with the service well.
Coordinate with barbacks, runners, and hosts to maintain flow and efficiency during peak hours.
Execute opening, mid-shift, and closing duties meticulously.
Compliance, Safety & Standards
Follow Arizona liquor laws and KUZA's responsible alcohol service standards.
Maintain a hygienic, organized bar in compliance with health and sanitation guidelines.
Execute accurate drawer management, comp/void approval procedures, and POS accuracy.
Skills & Qualifications
1–2 years bartending experience required; craft cocktail or Asian-influenced bar experience is a plus.
Strong mixology skills, recipe accuracy, and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask at a rapid pace while maintaining composure.
Must have (or obtain) AZ Food Handler Card and Liquor Certification.
Ability to learn KUZA’s beverage style, ingredients, and cultural elements quickly.
Able to lift up to 30 lbs and remain on feet for extended periods.

Open availability strongly preferred — nights, weekends, holidays.
