The Role The Bartender is a key part of the guest experience at Suser Restaurant Group, responsible for crafting exceptional drinks and delivering outstanding hospitality from behind the bar. This role requires a passion for the craft, an engaging personality, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment — all while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and service.
Responsibilities
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages accurately and efficiently, following standard recipes and presentation guidelines
Greet guests warmly, take drink and food orders, and provide knowledgeable recommendations on cocktails, beer, wine, and menu items
Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout the shift, including glassware, garnishes, and supplies
Monitor guest consumption responsibly and adhere to all alcohol service laws and regulations, including checking identification
Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and in accordance with company cash handling policies
Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure a seamless guest experience
Build rapport with guests to create a welcoming and memorable bar experience that encourages repeat visits
Set up and break down the bar before and after each shift, ensuring the bar is properly stocked and cleaned for the next service
Monitor and communicate inventory levels, alerting management when supplies need to be replenished
Assist with training and mentoring new bar staff as needed
Uphold all company policies, health codes, and sanitation standards at all times
What We're Looking For
1-2 years of bartending experience in a full-service restaurant or bar environment preferred
Solid knowledge of cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine
Michigan TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol certification preferred
Strong guest service skills with an outgoing, engaging personality
Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong cash handling and basic math skills
Reliable, punctual, and dependable with a strong work ethic
Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds regularly
Must be of legal age to serve alcohol per Michigan state law
