    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Pacific Battleship Center is looking for a dynamic individual for a hybrid position that is a dual Marketing and Development position. This person will assist the Development Department as necessary including interfacing with donors, coordinating special events, and providing administrative support. He/she will perform administrative tasks related to membership, fundraising, marketing and communications, and will gain first-hand experience in donor relations and cultivating support for a growing nonprofit organization. The Marketing and Development Specialist will be involved with stewardship activities related to donors and have the opportunity to collaborate on new fundraising initiatives, community events, and communication strategies for the Pacific Battleship Center. Solid administrative skills are required to perform donor research, assist with grant preparation and tracking, and database support.

    Marketing responsibilities include managing our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube), providing graphic design needs and collateral creation (Mailchimp emails, social graphics, website updates, corporate sponsorship proposals) to reinforce brand identity and strengthen the museum’s voice in the nonprofit landscape locally, regionally and nationally. He/she will also provide PR support to expand the museum’s reach via storytelling across digital and print.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Provide excellent customer service as the primary telephone and email communicator with small and mid-level donors.

    2. Responsible for all short-term campaign activities including preparation, management, and execution of campaign.

    3. Assist with the creation and implementation of the Development Department’s annual plan that incorporates a range of fundraising initiatives and marketing collateral needs. GRAPHIC DESIGN SKILLS A MUST.

    4. Optimize constituent lists from various sources (including Salesforce) with attention to enhanced donor segmentation and impactful messaging, including website updates (WordPress) to keep content fresh and impactful.

    5. Coordinate webcasts and virtual events via Zoom and YouTube.

    6. Track and manage all communications, activities, and research within Salesforce.

    7. Assume leadership of MailChimp (e-blast) integrity and use across all departments.

    8. Manage the Plank Owner loyalty reward program for the National Museum of the Surface Navy.

    9. Support donor relation events and community event fundraisers by assisting with invitations, event preparation, attending events to assist in set up, implementation, and clean up.

    10. Assist with the production and implementation of appeal campaigns and other fundraising communications and strategies by identifying potential Major & Legacy Donors via online tools and donor tracking system.

    11. Prepare major donor and sponsorship proposals for leadership to present to potential corporate sponsors and donors.

    12. Coordinate social media channels by incorporating event & fundraising appeals with visibility strategy, in collaboration with the VP of Development and the ship’s curator (for historical input).

    13. Communicate and coordinate with different departments to schedule resource usage and support fundraising activities.

    14. Ability to interface with volunteers and appreciate their contributions, as volunteers are also donors of time and money.

    15. Perform administrative duties including scanning, sorting, mailing, etc.

    16. Other duties upon request.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    · Strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google G Suite, website updates, and graphic design programs (Adobe Creative Cloud a plus).

    · 2+ years’ work experience in marketing/PR, and/or graphic design/branding, and/or nonprofit organizations with track record of fundraising/development.

    · 2+ years’ work experience designing mass communications and publishing email campaigns (Mailchimp preferred) with an understanding of list segmentation, results-driven messaging and campaign analysis/reporting.

    · Active on social media networks and have an understanding of best practices in communicating on social media.

    · Able to be flexible, learn, and adapt to changing needs and circumstances.

    · Experience working with CRM (Salesforce preferred) and doing research.

    · Demonstrated past successes in developing corporate sponsorships.

    EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
