    Bay Aging is seeking a part-time, Dispatcher, for Bay Transit in Warsaw,VA. Ensure all Bay Transit passengers have a safe and timely ride to meet their transportation needs to work, retail, legal, medical, educational or recreational facilities. Report to the Regional Transit Operations Supervisor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Operational duties (80%): On-going communication with drivers during the shift; handle the daily changes to scheduled routes (e.g. cancellation, add-on). Coordinate backup and roadside assistance in case of an emergency. Modify routes to take into account local road conditions.
    2. Administrative duties (20%): Prepare trip manifest for the next day. Record tracking information such as start/finish mileage for each bus and reconcile the drivers’ cash summary for each shift. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Rely on experience with the software and knowledge of the service area to guide drivers. Perform a defined and limited number of tasks. Work closely with schedulers and drivers to ensure passengers have a safe trip to their destination. Decision making- Perform daily dispatch responsibilities for the designated service area independently. Refer to the supervisor when there is an incident or accident involving a vehicle or passenger and when there is a significant disruption to the transportation routes. Working knowledge of:
    • Phone systems and two-way radio
    • Dispatching software e.g. RouteMatch.
    • Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Excel, e-mail). Ability to:
    • Read a map
    • Communicate verbally over the phone/radio clearly, even under stress or difficult circumstances.
    • Have a positive attitude while dealing with riders, and drivers.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.

    • Work a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday. WORKING ENVIRONMENT Office-based position with minimal physical requirements (ability to lift 15lbs, walking and climbing stairs). None of the essential functions of the position can be performed virtually. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent. Previous work experience providing excellent customer service.
