  • Responsibilities

    Bay Transit is seeking a full-time New Freedom Coordinator to schedule and coordinate safe and timely rides for qualified and registered passengers. Reports to the Mobility Manager.  Submit a copy of your Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) along with application for consideration. Documentation of COVID vaccination required or weekly COVID-19 testing.  Benefits include: Health, Dental, Vision, 401k Retirement Plan, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Paid Leave-Annual, Holiday, & Sick; after 6 months eligible for life insurance and long term disability insurance; and more.Primary duties include:

    ·         Identify and qualify potential New Freedom passengers. Assist non-qualified callers with other transportation options available. (15%)

    ·         Coordinate rides and associated paperwork using one of the approved transportation providers (e.g., taxis, human services agencies, volunteer drivers) (15%)

    ·         Administration (65%): Keep electronic and paper files for all passengers to ensure a good audit trail; track number of daily rides to ensure budget compliance; track number of rides per providers to ensure equitable ride distribution; track number of rides per person to ensure compliance with the allowed maximum number of monthly rides.

    ·         Public relations (5%): explain the service and answer questions from the general public.

    ·         Other Duties as Assigned.

     WORKING ENVIRONMENT

     Office-based position with minimal physical requirements (ability to lift 15lbs, walking and climbing stairs). 

     ·         Will spend substantial time standing, sitting, speaking, and listening

    ·         Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

    QUALIFICATIONS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS

     ·         Ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultures, ages, and economic backgrounds in a culturally competent and sensitive manner.

    ·                    -       Communicate clearly and patiently over the phone with passengers and outside providers and volunteer drivers.

    ·                    -       Provide good customer service when dealing passengers and the public.

    ·         Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and partners.

    ·         Strong clerical/administrative skills including personal computer skills (Microsoft Office software).

    ·         Exceedingly organized with strong attention to detail.

    ·         Assist with monthly provider invoices.

    ·         Demonstrated oral/written skills.

     EDUCATION:

    ·         High School Diploma or equivalent with experience in scheduling and customer service.

    FLSA status: This is a non-exempt position.
