    Bay Aging is seeking a Finance Manager to join our growing, impactful nonprofit organization serving citizens in the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck of Virginia, and across the country through a variety of programs.   The Finance Manager will ensure sound financial stewardship and accurate reporting for the Agency's programs in Healthy Living, Transportation, and Housing Services.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

     1.    MONTHLY CLOSE-OUTS (40%):

    a.    Responsible for timely and accurate close-outs to include reconciliation of accounts payables and receivables, cash accounts, bank statements, general ledger, indirect costs reconciliation.

    b.    Prepare monthly financial data for internal circulation and reports for the Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS)

    c.     Assistant auditors for annual audit of accounting books and audits of Agency programs by funding sources.

    2.    _SPECIAL PROJECTS & MANAGEMENT OF ACCOUNTING SECTION (20%). _

    a.    Work with CFO on special assignments to improve the efficiency and productivity of the Fiscal department through process management and digital transformation;  e.g., introducing direct deposit for accounts receivables, managing allocations within the GL software platform, etc.

    3.    _REPORTING FOR SPECIFIC PROGRAMS (20%). _ Responsible for the accounting and reporting for the Weatherization programs and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).

    4.    DAILY SUPPORT OF PAYROLL AND ACCOUNTS PAYABLE FUNCTIONS (20%).

     DECISION MAKING

    Plan and accomplish goals in a complex financial environment (up to 70 different funding sources) and compliance requirements. Handle the accounting work for most of the Agency programs independently. Perform a wide variety of tasks in accounting and finance. The majority of the work is driven by the monthly accounting cycle.

    KNOWLEDGE

    Familiarity with General Accepted Accounting Principles (e.g., accounts receivables and payables, banking and investing, budgeting, asset management, periodic reporting, audit preparation).

    Proficient in the use of Excel (e.g., formulas, reports, graph).

    Experience with digital financial systems.  Experience in Blackbaud Financial Edge General Ledger and ADP Payroll platforms a plus.

     Working knowledge of:

    -          Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

    -          Financial procedures in non-profit accounting including grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.

    -          Single Audit per CAFR 200 guidelines

    ABILITIES

    -          Establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of people e.g., co-workers, and outside entities (e.g. insurance brokers/agents, banks)

    -          Present ideas and financial concepts to a variety of audiences in writing and verbally.

    -          Excellent written communication skills (reports, letters, emails)

    -          Maintain accuracy and timeliness of work.

    -          Strong analytical and reasoning skills.

    -          Attention to detail and methodical approach to fiscal work.

    -          Create and maintain trust through ethical behaviors and sound fiscal stewardship of the Agency’s resources.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT

    Office-based position with minimal physical requirements (ability to lift 20lbs, walking and climbing stairs). Require occasional overnight travel to training and meetings.  20% of the essential functions of the position can be performed remotely with internet connections and phone.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business, and 3 to 5 years of accounting experience in non-profit organizations.  Degree requirements may be met by significant experience in nonprofit accounting. Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge and ADP software platforms desired.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.

     FLSA status: This is an exempt position.
