The National Suborbital Research Center (NSRC) provides engineering and data systems support enabling research within the NASA Airborne Science fleet. Our data systems provide a common interface to the onboard networking, data recording, telemetry and satellite communications services that make many large, modern scientific field campaigns possible. We’re looking for a flexible, motivated individual to maintain and grow our capabilities, as well as participate directly in the support of research activities.
Position description:
The Software Engineer will support NASA Airborne Science data systems operations and programs across the agency. Primary duties include the development, maintenance and documentation of software to support program operations, as well as assisting with the deployment and maintenance of this software and associated systems throughout the fleet.
When required, operations duties will include gathering mission requirements, assisting experimenters in integrating their instruments to the aircraft network and telemetry systems, providing technical support and staffing field campaigns with a duration of 2-6 weeks. When staffing field campaigns, the software engineer may be expected to fly aboard research aircraft, install and troubleshoot hardware, and provide customer support.
