    Position Summary:

    The Clinical Quality Coordinator, reporting to the CLS Manager, is responsible for policy development, quality assurance, clinical skills, and staff training. This role involves crafting and overseeing departmental policies, maintaining clinical license records, and ensuring MediaLab compliance. Conducting quality assurance audits for forensic cases, addressing specimen issues, examining incident data to identify trends, and monitoring staff communication for subpoena requests are key responsibilities. The coordinator also oversees vaccine administration quality control, maintains lab equipment, and ensures HIPAA and accreditation compliance. Clinical proficiency, occasional provision of home services and forensic coverage as needed, and managing audit schedules are essential aspects, along with supporting management during inspections to maintain testing performance quality.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Policy Development and Management

    • Develop and manage departmental policies in alignment with current regulations and policies.
    • Maintain a database of clinical licenses and certificates and act oversight of MediaLab compliance, ensuring timely completion of courses and proper corrective action for all BAYPLS Clinical and Lab staff.

    Quality Assurance

    • Conduct site visits and document findings for quality assurance audits.
    • Ensure quality control and regulatory compliance through reviews and closures of forensic cases.
    • Monitor and communicate with staff to facilitate any subpoena requests.
    • Ensure quality control for testing logs, personnel testing documentation, and temperature logs.
    • Be the main stakeholder with specimen requirements, conduct QC forensic kits, collection requirements, specimen integrity.
    • Create incident reports for specimen issues and address patient care complaints through established channels.
    • Examine incident data to identify patterns and transition towards conducting quarterly reviews of PQI (Performance Quality Indicator) trends.
    • Perform quality control of staff involved in vaccine administration, including tasks such as verifying patient identification, registration, insurance information, and conducting equipment vaccine lot checks.
    • Ensure that lab equipment and point of care equipment are maintained in accordance with preventive maintenance records
    • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality guidelines.
    • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and assist in policy implementation.

    Clinical Skills

    • Demonstrate proficiency in venipuncture and specimen handling.
    • Conduct quality control testing for CLIA Waived tests.
    • Occasional Home Services and Forensic Coverage with mileage reimbursement.

    Training

    • Responsible for configuring and managing the audit schedule for blood bot systems in answering services centers.
    • Serve as a resource and communication liaison.
    • Develop training programs and conduct new employee orientation training..
    • Support management during inspections and oversee testing performance quality.

    Qualifications:

    • High School or equivalent required
    • California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I License (CPT1) required
    • Current CPR Certificate
    • Minimum 4 years of CLIA lab experience as a CPT1
    • At least 1 year of leadership, training, or equivalent experience
    • Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements
    • Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills
    • Work independently and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
    • Possesses a strong affinity for technology and excels at crafting, expanding, and maintaining reports and data across diverse software platforms such as Salesforce, Google Drive, Airtable etc.
    • Possess a reliable vehicle for travel, with mileage reimbursement

    Hours:

    Hours and days may vary depending on operational needs. Standard hours are Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM with occasional weekend needs. This is an on-site position .

    Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

    • Standing or sitting for long periods of time may be necessary.
    • May be exposed to hazardous materials, blood specimens and instruments with moving parts, heating or freezing elements, and high-speed centrifugation.
    • Repetitive manual pipetting may be necessary.
    • Some lifting (up to 40 pounds) may be necessary.
