    Position Summary:

    BayPLS is now hiring a Staff Accountant to join our Operations Accounting team based in San Bruno, CA. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and an effective problem-solver. This role will be responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting.

    This position reports to the Controller.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • General Accounting:

      • Prepare journal entries and backup documentation.

      • Assist with month-end closing.

      • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.

    • Accounts Payable and Receivable:

      • Process accounts payable invoices, verifying accuracy, and ensuring timely payments.

      • Prepare and issue customer invoices, including customer outreach for overdue invoices, posting payments, investigate and resolve invoice issues.

    • Bank Reconciliations:

      • Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.

      • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances.

    • Payroll Processing:

      • Provide backup to our Payroll Coordinator in the timely and accurate payroll processing and administration for our bi-weekly payroll through Rippling
    • Financial Reporting:

      • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

      • Generate financial reports and distribute them to relevant stakeholders.

    • Budget Support:

      • Assist in the budgeting process by providing financial data and analysis.

      • Monitor budget variances and report on budget performance.

    • Audit and Compliance:

      • Support external audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

      • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.

    • Financial Analysis:

      • Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.

      • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reports as requested.

    • Software and Tools:

      • Utilize accounting software and tools to perform daily tasks and maintain financial records accurately.

      • Assist in the implementation and improvement of accounting software and systems.

    • Expense Tracking:

      • Maintain and track expense reports, ensuring proper approvals and documentation.
    • Documentation and Record Keeping:

      • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.

      • Ensure the confidentiality and security of financial data.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in accounting or finance, including internships or entry-level positions.

    • 1+ years of payroll processing experience.

    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

    • Strong working experience with accounting software such as Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, Index Match, VLookup, and other complex formulas).

    • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and analysis.

    • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

    • Demonstrated experience in continuous process improvements and optimization through automation.

    Physical Requirements:

    Up to 90% of time being stationary.

    Up to 95% of time operating computer and other productivity machinery.
