    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for processing medical records requests for existing Bayless Integrated Healthcare patients. The specialist will collaborate with requesting entity to provided needed information

    The Medical Records Specialist primary responsibility will be to process requests for patient records. The Specialist will also be responsible for accepting incoming phone calls on various phone lines. The Clerk will work in a corroborative, team environment by establishing strong working relationships with internal departments as well as external customers. The Clerk must display detail orientation with the proven ability to multitask; handling multiple phone lines and record requests at a time

    This individual is a key member of the Quality and Compliance team and advocates for patient healthcare needs by coordinating care to minimize the fragmentation of the healthcare delivery systems

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Process medical record requests
    • Maintain log of requests and status of requests
    • Determine if requests can be processed, ensure document is completed thoroughly
    • Understand HIPAA requirements
    • Correspond with requestors via email, phone, and fax
    • Coordinate with Providers for approval on requests when necessary
    • Prepare records for requestor; email, fax, mail, pick up
    • Retrieve all incoming record requests from email or fax and prioritize

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), or equivalent education and experience required
    • One year of customer service experience in a medical office setting
    • Requires excellent communication and organizational Skills
    • Requires strong customer service skills
    • Proficient in electronic clinical documentation
    • Great attention to detail and critical thinking skills
    • Problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills
    • Accurate data entry skills, ability to complete multiple projects and tasks at once.
    • HIPAA compliant
    • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency preferred
