    POSITION OVERVIEW :

    The Bayview Fishing Pier Attendant is responsible for delivering a safe, educational, and family-friendly fishing and recreation experience for resort guests and owners. This role oversees daily operations at the Captiva Fishing Pier and Bayview Lawn, including guest programming, equipment rentals, bait sales, and recreational lawn activities. By combining hospitality with environmental education, this position enhances the guest experience, protects the pier as an amenity, and creates meaningful connections with our community.

    **** ** KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**

    Guest Engagement & Experience

    • Provide a warm, welcoming presence at the Bayview Pier and Lawn, offering proactive assistance and personalized guest service.
    • Facilitate daily fishing lessons for kids (ages 6–14), families, and beginners, focusing on safety, techniques, and catch-and-release practices.
    • Lead short educational talks on local marine life and ecosystems (e.g., “Fish of Captiva” series, Gulf ecosystem awareness).
    • Administer the Junior Angler mini-certification program and create memorable keepsake moments for children and families.
    • Encourage guest participation in lawn games and family-friendly activities, ensuring all equipment is maintained and available.

    Pier Operations & Rentals

    • Monitor and control access to the fishing pier to ensure use is limited to authorized resort guests and owners.
    • Manage sign-ups, rod rentals, bait sales, and guest inquiries from the Pier Cart.
    • Maintain inventory of fishing rods, reels, tackle, and bait; prepare daily restock and coordinate with suppliers.
    • Ensure bait storage, coolers, and equipment meet cleanliness and safety standards.
    • Oversee rental program, including fee collection, equipment setup, and returns.

    Safety & Sustainability

    • Deliver daily safety briefings and enforce pier safety rules.
    • Promote environmentally responsible fishing practices and eco-awareness.
    • Provide first-line response to minor incidents and report issues promptly to leadership.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Pier Cart, Pier, Bayview Lawn, and fishing areas.

    Programming Support

    • Organize and oversee family lawn games (e.g., Connect Four, Cornhole, Bocce Ball, Jumbo Jenga).
    • Assist with branded experiences (e.g., First Fish Coin)
    • Support special events and seasonal activities as directed by the Director of Marina Operations.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

    • Responsible for efficiently handling guest check-ins and guest check-outs on resort's computer system.
    • Responsible for opening/closing of day's marina business, and accounting for all cash, resort charges, and credit card transactions, including security of cash bank and marina keys.
    • Responsible for the safety and operation and disbursement of any fuel products and all fuels in the Marina.
    • Assists management in inventory and inventory control, i.e. oil stock, fuel levels, and the daily accounting of fuel reports.
    • Responsible for discrepancies in dispensing fuel, either gasoline or diesel, to our marina customers either through carelessness or negligence.
    • Responsible for changing of fuel filters as required.
    • Responsible for cleanliness/organization and reporting of maintenance problems of
    • Marina to enhance safety, neatness and freshness including all company vessels.
    • Assists the docking and placement of all vessels in the marina and assists the proper security of their berthing.
    • Encourages and enhances multiple resort sales. Uses suggestive selling of Marina and Ship's Store products and resort services and amenities.
    • Responsible for covering any shifts of the marina operations in the event of personnel illness, no show, vacation, etc.
    • Participates in training programs and exercises in order to perform according to South Seas Resort standards at all times.
    • Must follow marina general and resort rules.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

    • Required – High School or equivalent.
    • Boater Safety Training.
    • Previous experience working in a marina environment helpful.
    • Previous guest service, recreation, or hospitality experience preferred; outdoor activity leadership a plus.
    • Knowledge of basic fishing techniques, local fish species, and safe handling practices (training provided).
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging children and families.
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
    • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
    • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs., stand/walk for long periods, and manage physical activity related to fishing and recreation setup.
    • Must possess thorough knowledge of FCC VHF Radio rules and regulations.
    • Previous boating experience helpful.

    SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION

    • ****Schedule: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (rotating shifts)
    • Compensation: $19/hour
