    Beacon Resources seeks a TOP-LEVEL ACCOUNTING MANAGER to join a medical device company in Long Beach on an interim basis with a strong possibility of our client hiring on a direct hire basis.  This is a role where you can work remotely half of the time. 

    JOB - The ACCOUNTING MANAGER will assist in the system implementation of a new cloud-based ERP system, taking the lead with consultants on this project.  The ACCOUNTING MANAGER will also be involved in full-cycle corporate accounting functions, including financial statement prep and reporting, flux analyses, audit, overseeing financial closes, journal entries, and account reconciliations.  Additional responsibilities include the review fixed assets, intangibles, prepaids, and R&D accruals.  You will report to an active CPA/Senior Controller.

    COMPENSATION/BENEFITS – Starting hourly rate of this role starts at $60/hour and increases with experience.  Should you be converted into direct hire employment, salary range starts at $115,000/year and INCREASES DEPENDING ON QUALIFICATIONS. 

    DUTIES OF THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER

    Implementation

    • Assist with design and implementation of the project
    • Assess current processes and controls and recommend improvements
    • Build consensus among the Accounting and Operations teams
    • Provide implementation advice, project management, and support services during accounting software installations and customizations 
    • Recognize and address differences between proposals put forth by consulting firms and the business practices of the client, and recommend solutions
    • Work autonomously, hitting milestones while monitoring and communicating progress
    • Oversee the design and migration of master data from the legacy systems to the new
    • Remedy any financial reporting issues resulting from implementation

    General Ledger (G/L) Accounting

    • Develop and assist your accounting leadership team with handling core corporate accounting functions, including month/quarter closes, and posting all relevant entries
    • Perform complex monthly balance sheet reconciliations
    • Work closely with external auditors and ensure all accounting processes are in accordance with GAAP

    Financial Reporting

    • Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
    • Support budgeting and forecasting activities
    • Perform quarterly flux analysis on financial statements to understand the company’s operations

    Miscellaneous

    • Play a prominent role in setting up and maintaining internal controls procedures
    • Accept any delegated ad hoc projects

    QUALIFICATIONS OF THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER

    REQUIRED

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an Accounting focus
    • CPA
    • General Ledger (G/L) accounting experience
    • At least six (6) years of Corporate Accounting experience with increasing level of responsibility
    • Small to mid-sized company employment
    • System implementation experience

    PREFERRED

    • Public CPA (highly preferred)
    • Exposure to various aspects of technical accounting
    • Experience in rapid-growth company
    • A mix of public and corporate accounting

    SKILLS OF THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER

    REQUIRED

    Technical

    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, IF Formulas)
    • Exposure to mid-tier ERP system

    Interpersonal

    • Detail oriented, with high level of ethics and integrity
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills

    • Ability to juggle multiple projects
