    Position Summary

    The Beam Line Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of beam processing equipment used in the fabrication of structural steel components. This position involves operating CNC beamline, reading files, loading and unloading material, monitoring machine performance, performing quality checks, and ensuring production goals are met while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Operate beam line equipment to process structural steel components according to engineering drawings and work orders.

    Interpret shop drawings, cut lists, and production schedules.

    Load, position, and unload steel beams using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material handling equipment.

    Set up machine tooling and verify proper machine settings for drilling, cutting, coping, marking, and layout operations.

    Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality and efficiency.

    Inspect finished products to verify compliance with dimensional and quality requirements.

    Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication as required.

    Identify and report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and quality concerns.

    Accurately record production data, material usage, and downtime information.

    Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.

    Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.

    Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and safety.

    Qualifications

    Education

    High school diploma or GED preferred.

    Technical training in manufacturing, fabrication, or CNC equipment operation is a plus.

    Experience

    Minimum 1-3 years of experience operating fabrication, CNC, or structural steel processing equipment preferred.

    Experience working in a structural steel, modular manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment preferred.

    Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and work instructions.

    Knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes.

    Understanding of measurement tools including tape measures and squares.

    Basic computer skills and ability to work with CNC machine interfaces.

    Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

    Ability to troubleshoot basic machine and production issues.

    Strong communication and teamwork skills.

    Ability to prioritize work and meet production deadlines.

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

    Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

    Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb as required.

    Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, and moving equipment.

    Must be able to wear required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, gloves, and hard hats.

    Work Environment

    The Beam Line Operator works in a heavy manufacturing environment and regularly interacts with production personnel, supervisors, quality inspectors, and maintenance staff. The position requires strict adherence to safety procedures while supporting production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
