Responsibilities: • Help effectively solve legal problems for clients by analyzing the situation, understanding their needs, and creating a strategic plan of action • Communicate with clients on at least a weekly basis, keeping them informed of the status of their matter • Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, and marital settlement agreements, handling the division of marital assets, judgments, and orders for family law cases • Attend court proceedings as needed to ensure effective representation of clients • Consult with potential clients to ascertain their needs and decide on the next steps • Confirm all work is consistently quality-reviewed for case law and written content/clarity • Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases • Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed • Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation, and forming a strategy for a plan of action • Keep client files properly organized and up to date • Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed Qualifications: • At least 4 years of family law experience, and an SC Law License; an additional license in Georgia or North Carolina would be a plus • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations • 4 year degree with a legal background and a J.D. degree are necessary for this position • Experience with billing and keeping track of billable time on cases • Great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations • Team-oriented, flexible, organized, and willing to work across office locations when needed is a plus • Self-starter who will take the proactive initiative to complete priorities on a daily basis • Ability to creatively problem-solve and come up with workable solutions, figure things out on your own • Must be willing to travel locally around Hilton Head and Beaufort, as well as the surrounding area, for mediations, depositions, and court How Do I Apply?
