    WATERSHED SPECIALIST / ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATOR


    Full Time Position


    PURPOSE:

    The Beaver County Conservation District Watershed Specialist / Environmental Educator shall administer the Watershed Specialist Growing Greener Grant and the Education program at the direction of the Conservation District Board of Directors and the District Manager.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


    1. Associate degree or equivalent work experience in Resource Management, Environmental Science or related field; general knowledge of resource conservation, agriculture and the environment; project management a plus.
    2. Ability to make decisions within Conservation District precedents and regulations.
    3. Ability to communicate effectively through clear and succinct speech and writing.
    4. Be computer literate.
    5. Consistently demonstrate flexibility, initiative and sound judgment.
    6. Possess a valid driver’s license and have a safe driving record.
    7. Be willing and able to attend evening and weekend functions
    8. Be receptive of new ideas, products and procedures.
    9. Knowledge of wetland function, repair, improvements and maintenance is helpful.

    Specific Responsibilities:


    Watershed Specialist:

    · Administer the Watershed Specialist Growing Greener Grant deliverables and objective, trainings, and priorities required by the grant.

    · Apply for and administer grant funded projects.

    · Render appropriate assistance to local governments and county landowners and residents.

    · Promote and conduct environmental education, conservation planning and encourage the wise use of the county’s natural resources.

    · Cooperate with other natural resource agencies, entities.

    · Cultivate and maintain positive public relations.

    · Prepare a written monthly report/quarterly/annual reports for the Board of Directors and DEP.

    · Maintain the Districts Rain Garden, Green Roof, and Rain Barrel displays

    Environmental Educator:

    · Administer the annual Beaver County Junior and Senior Envirothon

    · Administer the annual PA Master Naturalist Beaver County Program

    · Administer Environmental Education classes to meet PAEE standards(if required by participants) and offer to schools, home schools, and alike

    · Prepare general lesson plans and classes upon request for adult education, and organizations such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and alike

    · Administer the BCCD Mobile Education Center

    · Prepare and coordinate the BCCD newsletters, newspapers, and / or annual reports as requested.

    · Administer the BCCD Facebook and Website

    · Administer the BCCD YouTube channel and provide new training videos

    · Provide assistance with outreach programs and events for the District and its programs

    · Administer the annual tree sale

    · Prepare a written monthly report/quarterly/annual reports for the Board of Directors.

    • Serve in other capacities deemed necessary by the Beaver County Conservation District Board of Directors and/ or the District Manager.
    • Work with other District departments as needed to support other delegation projects.
