    ROLE OVERVIEW:

    The manufacturing engineering role is a dynamic position whose function is to develop, manage, and support the full manufacturing process for production of components for Aerospace and Defense applications.  This role will be directly involved with the production process developing programs, engineering drawings, and process flows to deliver flight hardware from raw material.  

     DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Digest customer requirements and develop manufacturing production plans (including manufacturing drawings, manufacturing plans, work instructions, contract reviews, etc.) which meet customer and industry requirements
    • Develop, communicate, and execute solutions for problems that arise during manufacturing process including prevention and disposition of non-conformances
    • Work closely with post-additive manufacturing processes (machining, hand deburring, blasting, anodizing, thermal processing, NDT, inspection, etc.) to ensure compliance and success
    • Continuously improve the manufacturing process and implement changes that allow scalability and growth using tools such as fault tree diagrams, work instructions, and complete-solution work packages to share with sister facilities.
    • Explore automation and lean practices to streamline production processes (product realization)
    • Assist sales team with preliminary reviews and feedback for manufacturability
    • Occasionally interface with customers to establish project requirements and/or to ensure clear communication of technical details
    • Develop and continually improve manufacturing engineering training and best-practices in a manor that can be implemented across all facilities

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Sciences, or close disciplines
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on processing and/or machining of near-net-shape components such as castings, forgings, of brazings
    • Strong knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings
    • Working knowledge of CAD such as NX, Solidworks, and Autodesk Inventor
    • Ability to execute responsibilities independently with minimal day-to-day oversight.
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills to include report writing, requirements derivation, and documentation
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with cross-departmental teams of staff and executives
    • Willingness to work extended hours during mission critical activities

     PREFERRED:

    • AS9100/ISO9001 or equivalent (automotive, medical, etc.) experience
    • Experience performing and/or interpreting inspection data (CMM, Structured light, NDT, etc.)
    • Experience with surface refinement (grit blasting, tumbling, abrasive flow machining, or other mass media finishing methods)
    • Experience with other post-processing (anodizing, coating, assembly, thermal processing, etc.)
    • Experience programming CAM for machining or other manufacturing.
    • Previous start-up experience
