Behavior Intervention Specialist – Pulaski, NY
Locations: Jefferson County and Oswego County. Watertown, Pulaski, Fulton, Oswego - Travel between sites. Occasional travel to East Syracuse site as needed.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavior Support Specialist or Behavior Intervention Specialist to join our team. As a Behavior Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to preschool children with behavioral challenges.
Responsibilities:
Work with the preschool teams to provide training, support, and coordination of activities within the preschool setting related to the implementation of Positive Behavioral Support
Assist with the behavioral needs of all students enrolled.
Work with specific children according to their behavioral concerns, which includes implementing positive behavior support techniques and behavior intervention plans.
Coach classroom staff and therapy/special education team in specific behavioral strategies.
Follow all federal, state and local laws governing preschool & childcare standards and privacy regulations
Work location is preschool classroom sites including Watertown, Pulaski, Oswego, Fulton, Baldwinsville, East Syracuse, and Camillus
Job Type: Part Time; Monday through Friday
Physical Requirements:
Physically able to bend/stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, push/pull, reach above and below shoulder level frequently and move about quickly.
Independently lift up to 50 lbs up to five (5) times/day.
Exposed to bites, kicks, punches, spitting and other physical behaviors of children with special needs.
Requirements:
Valid New York State Driver License & Reliable Transportation
Early Childhood, Special Education, Behavior College coursework/Degree preferred
Experience working with young children with significant behavioral needs.
Previous experience working with early childhood individuals with behavioral challenges in classroom settings.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Positive attitude and ability to work within an interdisciplinary team model
Ability to model and coach behavior management strategies effectively
Certification preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
