Under direction of the Director of Education and the Program Director/Designee the Behavior and Academic
Support Counselor works to ensure, promote and maintain general safety throughout the area(s) during the
school day and Facility as needed. Works professionally and collaboratively with all education department staff.
Interacts appropriately with residents in accordance with Hallmark Youthcare’s Treatment Philosophy, the
Program Manual, Individual Treatment Plan and unit programs. Clearly writes documentation of services
provided in clinical record.
The Behavior and Academic Support Counselor displays professionalism at all times and a constant team
member. Models appropriate life skills behaviors including hygiene, grooming, dress, manners and language.
The Behavior and Academic Support Counselor to Hallmark’s Trauma Informed Care
initiatives and practice and awareness of cultural diversity with demonstration of cultural competency, respect,
and dignity to all individuals and cultures. The primary duty of this position is to assist students in achieving
academic and behavioral success. This role combines supervision, behavioral support, and academic assistance
within our educational program.
Attends community meetings daily.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies. Maintains CPR/First Aid/AED and Handle with
Care certifications. Maintains strict confidentiality and privacy of residents’ personally identifiable health and
personnel information in accordance with HIPAA privacy rules and facility policies. Meets mandatory staff
development requirements per the standards of all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
