BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CREATIVE ARTS COUNSELOR - Work in a supportive team environment

Community Psychiatric Institute, a leader in Behavioral Healthcare and Substance Abuse treatment for over 54 years in Essex County, has an opening for a Full-time Counselor with Creative Arts experience. We are seeking a candidate with a background in creative or recreational arts to assist with engaging clients in a therapeutic day treatment setting.

The ideal applicant will have a passion for working with individuals with mental health and/or co-occurring substance abuse disorders, helping individuals build stability, dignity & hope - one day at a time!

Responsibilities include:

 Maintain an active caseload in our Partial Care program, providing group counseling while integrating creative arts.

 Performing timely medical records documentation including weekly progress notes and treatment plans.

 Work as a part of our Multidisciplinary Team providing direct care to patients.

 Activity Planning & Facilitation: Implementing therapeutic activities involving modalities such as art, music and creative movement.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a mental health, counseling, creative arts or related field.
• Experience working with chronic mentally ill & co-occurring populations.
• Creative Arts or Recreational Arts background.
• Excellent time management & organizational skills.
• Strong communication and engagement skills.
