    Job Description

    The primary responsibilities of this position will include assisting the Compliance Director and overall coordination of the Compliance Department’s Total Quality Management (TQM) program & Administration. This includes assisting in evaluating existing standard operating procedures, testing current processes and providing recommendations. In addition, the Compliance Intern will assist the Compliance Director in adhoc and monthly audits, contractual/licensing/administrative duties, departmental observations, and inquiries.

    The Compliance intern will assist in monitoring procedures to effectively perform duties independently that support the BHW Compliance Program (including HIPAA Privacy activities). The increased visibility and broad opportunities offered in today’s Compliance programs can provide an intern with tremendous career prospects and growth potential. Also the intern will be able to utilize their work experience at BHW as coursework credit. Through an array of activities, the suitable candidate will learn the key elements of an effective Compliance program and be exposed to Compliance activities by working with members of the Compliance team. The exposure and opportunity gained will result in an increased appreciation and understanding of Compliance program fundamentals.

    The Intern will be engaged in, experience and facilitate compliance activities to include:

     

    • The Monthly TQM Program assisting with auditing, and reporting
    • BHW document digitization initiative
    • License and contract management
    • Assisting in Compliance related requests, assignment and follow-up

     

    Additional assignments may include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Researching federal and state regulations and statutes and analyzing applicable impact to the plan and contract requirements
    • Analyzing topics such as HIPAA, and Medicaid
    • Policy and procedure research, review and revision
    • Other projects as deemed necessary or appropriate
