    Benhaven Residential Services is seeking a Behaviorist.

    ** Full-time:** 40 hours weekly, exempt

    ** Purpose of Position** :

    This is a full-time, 40 hour per week exempt position, with flexibility for afternoon, evening, and weekends as needed. The Behaviorist in the Residential Division is responsible for the clinical behavioral supports provided to people supported through our residential services. The Behaviorist is responsible for the assessment, development of plans, training and implementation of behavioral supports, oversight of behavioral services, and meeting the policies/procedures of Benhaven and DDS policy/procedure, rules and regulations, and applicable state statutes. Benhaven requires this work to follow positive behavior support strategies and in compliance with acceptable professional standards in the field of autism and developmental disabilities.

    Responsibilities:

    The following duties are assigned to this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

    • Be an active team member including:

    Meeting with individuals and their family member

    DDS Case Managers

    Guardians

    Other providers as appropriate

    • Carry a caseload of people who are supported through the residential Division, including:

    Assessment and evaluation of clinical needs,

    Author Positive Behavior Support Plans (BSP)and/or Functional Behavior Assessments,

    • Provide training on the person and their BSP to staff and the techniques require to implement BSP,
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of the BSP;
    • Support staff to plan how to meet their unique needs,
    • Regularly assess data and adjust plans as needed,
    • Work with the person’s school/day services provider or other team members to develop coordinated programming between school/day program and home,
    • Support the Residential Manager by:

    Teaching the staff on implementation of the BSP,

    Ensuring the BSP is being implemented correctly,

    Reviewing staff entries in Therap to ensure they are working on and making progress and,

    Providing documentation accurately and on-time,

    Following up with staff regarding trainings as necessary,

    • Collaborate with the Residential Manager and Nurse on coordinating support to staff,
    • Assist with on-call for behavioral support.
    • Coordinate and develop PRC packets and participate in PRC meetings,
    • Revise, maintain, and monitor behavioral support plans,
    • Participate in annual meetings,
    • Collaborate closely with the Residential Manager and Residential Division Director.
    • Make sure all required paperwork is current for each person on caseload. This includes:

    Annual Individual Plan updates. (ensure adherence to the flow chart to update Level of Need and Individual Plan),

    • Providing updates and reports as required by Department of Developmental Services/Department of Children & Families/LEA when required,
    • Work with case managers and attend necessary meetings,
    • Participate in all Psychiatric Clinic meetings and be the point person for Psychiatrist with RN.

    Education, Qualifications and/or Special Training:

    • BCBA (preferred), or
    • Doctoral Degree and current licensure in psychology or
    • Master’s degree in psychology, special education, social work or a related field (Proof of licensure for Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist or Professional Counselor) and
    • Must be able to provide two (2) behavioral support plans that were implemented within the last year. The information in the work samples should be redacted (e.g., removal of identifying names and date of birth) and be specific to individuals with developmental disabilities.
    • Must have qualifications to become DDS Provider

    Requirements:

    • Must be a professional and positive representation of Benhaven at all times
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Positive Behavioral Supports and Writing Positive Behavior Support Plans
    • Must be flexible with scheduling. Hours are flexible but schedule will include some late afternoons and very occasional weekend hours.
    • Ability to work with families, providers, and staff
    • Ability to train and supervise
    • Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance and registration
    • Must be able to complete all background checks to be considered
    • Experience in collaborating with employees at all levels, strong interpersonal skills
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to identify issues and determine action steps that are needed.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Must have knowledge of current trends in autism,
    • Proficiency in Excel, MS Word and Outlook,
    • Knowledge of the service delivery systems through DDS, DCF, LEA is preferred.
