    The Sheraton Houston Airport is currently hiring a Banquet Captain. A banquet captain supervises and manages events, ensuring seamless execution of banquets by leading staff, preparing the venue, and ensuring guest satisfaction. Key responsibilities include leading banquet staff, setting up and tearing down event spaces according to event orders, and serving as the main point of contact for both clients and kitchen staff. Responsibilities: • Supervise and lead staff : Train, motivate, and direct banquet servers and other staff during events. This includes assigning stations, managing breaks, and ensuring all staff are present and properly groomed. • Manage event setup : Oversee the setup and breakdown of the banquet area, including tables, chairs, linens, buffets, and equipment. • Coordinate service : Ensure food and beverages are served promptly and professionally, coordinating with the kitchen to manage food timing and quality. They also ensure any special dietary needs are met. • Maintain standards : Ensure all health, safety, and sanitation regulations are followed by staff and that the venue is clean and organized. They also inspect the cleanliness and presentation of all service items, like china and glassware. • Handle guest relations : Address guest concerns, questions, and compliments promptly and professionally to ensure a positive experience. • Perform administrative duties : Conduct pre-function meetings, review event orders, and complete reports, including documenting guest feedback and incidents. Qualifications: • Leadership and communication : Must have strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage staff and interact with clients. • Organizational and time management : Needs excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple tasks and staff members simultaneously. • Customer service : Requires a strong commitment to providing exceptional service, even in high-pressure situations. • Experience : Often requires several years of experience in a banquet or hospitality setting, with a high school diploma or a degree in hospitality often preferred. • Physical fitness : The job requires the stamina to stand for long periods and lift and move furniture and equipment. • Flexibility : Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is essential. Compensation: $18 - $20 hourly
