Our client is a well-funded start-up based in Columbus, OH. With a proven business model in Europe they are bringing their experience, innovation, data science and technology to create the first end-to-end global travel insurance platform. From product design to emergency travel assistance, our client redefines what it means to protect travelers worldwide.
They are seeking multiple (many!) engineers to build out their team. As a Software Engineer, you will be tightly connected with their leadership team, helping both to define their approach to technology as well as engineering new features.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop systems in a wide range of technologies, including mobile app development.
- Follow established development and testing procedures to ensure quality software development that meets the requirements.
- Create and maintain documentation regarding systems being developed in order to ensure long-term maintainability.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A proficient and skilled developer with a deep knowledge of PHP and a front-end framework such as Angular or React
- Experience using databases such as MySQL
- Experience with a PHP framework such as Laravel or Symfony
- Experience using Version control tools
- A clear and effective communicator with the ability to write concise technical documentation and other documents that may be required to support software releases
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Self-directed team player who thrives in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines
- College degree in computer science / engineering or equivalent
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar position
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Startup experience? Yes, please
- Experience working on large scale projects with a large number of simultaneous requests
- Experience with Ionic would be considered an asset
- Experience with Docker and Containerization
