Responsibilities: • Effectively Handles Negotiation & Settlement Discussions • Responsible for Effective Planning and Execution of cases • Strategize, prepare for, and attend Trials, Mediations, Arbitrations, and Depositions • Argue motions in court on behalf of clients during legal proceedings • Witness Preparation & Development • Complete legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, and briefs • Background Research & Case Development • Stay updated on changing applicable laws and statutes on the local, state, and federal levels Qualifications: • Demonstrated experience in successfully executing legal strategy, taking depositions, motion practice, trial, arbitration, hearings, producing witnesses for depositions, and other key litigation events • In addition to excelling at researching and brief writing, the ideal candidate should be adept at critical thinking, persuasion, ability to see the big picture, finding and focusing on what’s important, and communicating effectively amongst team members, other attorneys, the Court and staff, co-counsel, and outside vendors • Proven track record in navigating state and federal court systems • Previous experience advocating for clients in trials, mediation, and arbitration • Persuasive writing skills and verbal communication skills are critical, along with time management and interpersonal skills • 3-5 years of experience working as a senior associate attorney preferred • An active member in good standing with Kansas and Missouri state bar associations. Other states are a bonus (Illinois, California, etc.)
