    The Sperling Center for Research and Innovation (SCRI), an affiliate of BellXcel, is dedicated to elevating the quality and impact of schools and youth-serving organizations by making evidence actionable.  SCRI draws on BellXcel’s decades of firsthand implementation experience to bridge the research to practice to policy gap, continuously bringing practical learning and insights to ease the work of others. SCRI is a remote organization, working with partners and clients nationwide and across multiple time zones.

    POSITION IMPACT ON THE ORGANIZATION

    The Education Consultant, SCRI manages and/or collaborates on a diverse portfolio of Impact Consulting projects. Impact Consulting seeks to build the capacity of youth organizations and schools to best meet the needs of youth, families and communities. SCRI prioritizes evidence-based practice and draws upon and translates research and insights to improve programming and experiences for young people. Projects range from strategy and planning to customized coaching, continuous improvement, and professional development. Consultant will have broad expertise in youth programming, capacity building, strategic planning, facilitation, and project management – and experience managing and meeting client needs.

    The Education Consultant, SCRI reports to the Managing Partner, SCRI, who also serves as Chief Impact Officer for BellXcel. Consultant will have ability to travel up to 25% when conditions are safe to do so.

    POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

    The Education Consultant, SCRI, is responsible for leading or collaborating on a portfolio of diverse consulting projects with SCRI clients. All projects are intended to improve access, quality and outcomes in youth development and education.

    Specific accountabilities include:

    • Manage Impact Consulting engagements and projects, grounding approaches in evidence to meet client needs;
    • Facilitate and document regular client meetings to ensure satisfaction and project success;
    • Support and develop procedures and tools to streamline the operations of SCRI’s consulting service delivery, and manage project logistics as needed;  
    • Develop, adapt and/or complete tools, resources, trainings, courses, reports and products in service of client’s goals and objectives;
    • Manage collaboration to build SCRI’s professional development offerings or courses in areas aligned to SCRI capacity building services (continuous improvement, service delivery innovation, strategy and planning, etc.);
    • Collaborate on proposals and scopes of work for new client engagements;
    • Apply research findings and best practices in youth development, education, out-of-school time, strategic planning, and system-building / collective action to client engagements and projects;
    • Foster connections and relationships between SCRI and peer organizations to keep abreast of field trends, recent and related research findings, and potential for new engagements;
    • Develop internal relationships across SCRI and BellXcel teams to identify opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and adaptation of BellXcel products and services to meet broader SCRI clientele;
    • Present research findings at conferences, meetings, or online events.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in related field and at least 5 years’ experience in education and/or youth development with demonstrated ability to manage complex projects in fast-based and dynamic virtual work environment. Additionally:

    • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, and dynamite facilitation and presentation skills;
    • Effective project management and organizational skills, and strong project documentation;
    • Evidence of ability to develop tools, resources, services and projects that drive increased access, quality or outcomes in youth program or school settings;
    • Commitment to equity as a cornerstone of BellXcel’s and SCRI’s work;
    • Demonstrated leadership skills, able to launch, implement and lead projects through completion in collaboration with multi-disciplinary team;
    • Ability to work and manage projects across multiple time zones, as needed;
    • Potential for up to 20% travel when safe to do so, including the occasional weekend;
    • Desire to collaborate as critical member of a team, bringing energy and passion to newly-formed Center.
