    Situated on seven picturesque acres, Bella Sera (bellaserapgh.com) is a stylish banquet facility conveniently located 25 minutes south of Pittsburgh and just one mile from I-79. We are currently seeking an experienced Sous Chef to be the second in command in our kitchen.

    Our spacious Tuscan inspired villa accommodates wedding ceremonies & receptions, bridal/baby showers, graduation parties, corporate meetings & much more. We also offer spaces for small intimate gatherings.

You have a watchful eye and an attentive nature that is in tune with helping in the preparation and design of all food and ensuring that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards.

    Position:

    • Sous Chef  

    Compensation:

    • Salary commensurate w/experience
    • Medical benefits available
    • 401K (after 1 year of employment)
    • PTO (1 week after 1 year of employment)

    Experience:

    • Previous experience in cooking, culinary arts, or other related fields
    • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques
    • P & L management
    • Ordering, receiving, +  inventory
    • Industry best practices
    • Food safety knowledge (ServSafe preferred)
    • Staff scheduling
    • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task while remaining focused on the goal
    • Must have the ability to remain calm in high-stress situations
    • Be able to solve problems quickly under pressure
    • Excellent verbal communication and leadership skills 
    • Must be able to handle heavy lifting (50+ lbs), long hours of standing and other taxing physical activities
    • Stable work history

    Responsibilities:

    • Takes orders from the executive chef
    • Prepare all served food
    • Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours
    • Memorize, record, and comprehend menu items, plate appearance, and portions
    • Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
    • Adherence to food safety and sanitation procedures
    • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances
    • Work multiple stations in a kitchen
    • Assist with training of newly hired kitchen staff
    • Prompt and reliable adherence to attendance policies
    • Work varying schedules to reflect the business needs (nights, weekends and holidays)
    • Managing 5-10 people
