Hours: M-F, Part Time positions available. Pay rate: $12.00 to $15.00 (commensurate with experience & education)

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED required
Current CPR & First Aid Certification preferred
Experience working with children in a licensed childcare facility preferred
Prefer CDA or Associates Degree in Child Care Education or a related field
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the implementation of curricula activity and encourage participation by children.
Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
Maintain frequent communication with parents.
Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
Ensure smooth, daily transitions from home to the child care center.
Follow all center policies and state regulations.
Maintain personal and professional development plans to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Appropriate attire and professionalism.
Always have a professional attitude toward the children, families, and co-workers.
Willingness to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy of Bemis Farms.

Bemis Farms was established in 1994 on 18 acres of farmland in Saline, Michigan. The grounds are filled with gardens and many trees – and the local farmer plants and grows a rotating crop of corn and soybeans. We encourage an outdoor learning environment (OLE) where kids can be more involved and get hands-on experience with nature.

The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher and Director by helping create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve their education's overall care and quality. They must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Teacher Assistant observes and documents children’s interests and progress and relays that information to parents and staff. Teacher Assistants are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and needs under the direction of the Lead Teacher and the Director.
