  • Responsibilities

    MISSION / SUMMARY:

    To expand GPI’s Enterprise Machine Intelligence system across Americas Converting. Working with a team and establishing machine tag management, screens, displays, and alarms using Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform to enable remote monitoring. Responsible to conduct Site Surveys to map out requirements and gaps to connect to operation networks. Work with Infrastructure to scale out process control architecture to tie PLC’s, HMI’s, and various control systems.

     

    JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

     

    The Process Control Engineer/Integration Technician is responsible for the following functions:

    • Enabling connectivity to GPI’s shop floor systems and machines. Such as PLC’s, HMI, Computer Systems
    • Responsible for Identifying and documenting Manufacturing KPI’s, Tags, components, protocols, systems, wiring, networking
    • System commissioning and troubleshooting
    • Working as an individual or in a team.
    • Collaborate with engineers or software developers to select appropriate design solutions or ensure the compatibility of system components.
    • Interface with developers and end users to gather application requirements and dependencies.
    • Managing multiple scopes of work in various phases simultaneously
    • Actively participate in technical team design and code reviews and maintain software configuration control and may have some lead responsibilities
    • Mentor team members in areas of expertise and assist in recruiting
    • Other duties as assigned

     - Project Management

    • Ensures all project tasks are executed in accordance to established GPI IT governance practices
    • Foster cross-functional relationships inter- and intra-departmentally for effective project management
    • Execute assigned projects and track the completion of major milestones

     

     

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • Certificate or associate degree in related engineering field preferred
    • 3+ years manufacturing experience

     

     

     

    SPECIALIZED OR TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

    • Manufacturing Experience
    • Communications experience with Ethernet, Serial communications standards, OPCUA, Kepware, Modbus and other RS232 based communications
    • Ability to take ownership of technical hardware and software issues related to process control and automation systems, including PLC's, monitoring, data historian, communication networks and HMI's
    • Capable of configuration of network related equipment such as layer III switches, routers, and communications backbone hardware
    • PC administration skills with virtual servers and thin client networks
    • A background in electrical / instrumentation will be highly regarded
    • Ability to comprehend and implement detailed project specifications
    • Ability to adapt to various technologies and simultaneously work on multiple projects
    • Experience with at least 1 of the following control systems, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Siemens, Bosch, TwinCat
    • Strong working knowledge of Process Flow, Statistical Process, and Machine Controls

     

     

    SPECIFIC SKILLS:

    Other Required Skills:

    • Ignition software and scripting a plus
    • Strong planning and organizational skills
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
    • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking skills
    • Knowledge of Agile Development is a plus
    • PLC Programming is a plus
    • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
