    This position staff member will administer and document radiation treatments appropriately.  Monitor patients for potential reactions.  Coordinate daily treatment schedule.  Coordinate daily schedules of linear accelerator and simulator.  Monitor quality control outcomes and coordinate equipment service.  Direct supervision of radiation therapists.  Reports direct to Radiation Oncology Department Manager.

    Required Skills

    REQUIRED:

    • R.T. and CRT certificates and license

    PREFERRED:

    • Three (3) years’ experience as CRT/ARRT

    Required Experience

    1. Safeguards and preserves the confidentiality of patient’s protected health information in accordance with State and Federal (HIPAA) regulatory requirements, hospital and departmental policies.
    2. Ensures a safe patient environment and adherence to safety practices per policy.
    3. With consideration to age, employee utilizes the approved process to resolve biophysical, psychological, educational and environmental needs of patient/significant other when administering care.
    4.     5. Coordinate the smooth daily operation of treatment machines. 
    6. Attend all department meetings and meet professional and department education standards.
    7. Adhere to department and hospital policies and procedures.  Assist with policy renewals as appropriate. 
    8. Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of supplies for patient’s treatment.  Demonstrate cost saving techniques.
    9. Assure appropriate technical coverage to provide treatments as prescribed by radiation oncologists.  Notify manager of any staffing problems and/or coverage.
    10. Maintain good working relationships with other departments, physicist, and radiation oncologist.
    11. Assist in completing performance appraisals on staff under direct supervision in a timely manner.  Provide input on discussions regarding hiring, counseling, discipline, and termination.
    12. Obtain appropriate records for patient charts and verify accurate documentation of treatment.
    13. Assure adherence to treatment plan as prescribed by the radiation oncologist by accurate forecasting and patient scheduling. 
    14. Perform and monitor quality control procedures for therapy equipment. 
    15. Promote positive guest relations.
    16. Informs physicist of equipment malfunction and obtains appropriate feedback.
    17. Provide structured orientation program to new therapists.
    18. Responsible for the technical quality performance of radiation therapists on continual basis.
    19. Provide structured orientation for radiation therapist students and monitor performance on continual basis. 
    20. Demonstrate good understanding of radiation therapy patient charges and medical necessity documentation. 
    21. Responsible for monitoring radiation therapy patient charges to assure appropriate charges have been submitted correctly.
    22. Administer radiation treatments per Radiation Oncologist’s prescription and department procedure as needed
    23. Maintain competency in all appropriate skills for radiation therapy.
