    The Strategic Development Manager Gas Services oversees national and regional manufacturer positions using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to ongoing strategic negotiations with approved manufacturers. Based on varying requirements, this role will work directly with clients, vendors and/or business leaders to identify analytical requirements and supporting marketing efforts. In addition, he/she will work across the Irby US footprint to work closely with the Gas Sales Team on strategic opportunities to help secure and retain business. This position will report directly to the Director Gas Services and work closely with the Gas Business Development Managers across the US and the Sourcing Manager(s). This position will also interact with regional branch management throughout the country.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Establish and maintain manufacturer/vendor relations for Irby’s gas business across the US.
    • Interact with key Internal Stakeholders to establish clear business needs, apply forward thinking skills to set long term strategies for Irby’s Gas business.
    • Support and implement manufacturer/vendor strategy within designated territories with direction from Gas Business Director, Gas Business Development Managers, Regional Vice Presidents and District Managers.
    • Ability to execute operationally complex manufacturer/vendor sourcing activities.
    • Create and maintain manufacturer/vendor quote databases comprised of company data within designated environment(s).
    • Analyze and publish extensive data and associated marketing reports regarding sales, historical demand and performance for key customers, manufacturers/vendors and sales management.
    • Maintain vendor quote accuracy in ERP system.
    • Create and maintain key account contract files to develop manufacturer price change impact statements reflecting market activity and to support strategic initiatives. Actively focuses on maximizing contract values and tracks and reviews its benefits to the organization.
    • Direct and oversee product identification changes to ensure timely inventory depletion and replacement.
    • Work and interact daily with Corporate Gas Buyer on various tactical procurement related activities.
    • Work in conjunction with the purchasing team to monitor inventory levels, reserve inventory, and overall supply chain proficiency daily so that local stock levels are improved and maintained
    • Work and interact with Inside Gas sales staff across the US.
    • Work and interact with Inside sales Gas Supervisor & Operational Managers across the US.
    • Responsible for new gas item set up and routinely perform data cleansing in accordance with established gas procedures and guidelines.
    • Work with account management to identify contract cost saving opportunities.
    • Identify and implement margin improvement and product standardizations opportunities among customer contracts.
    • Analyze ongoing business requirements across projects and business units.
    • Provides support for Request for Proposal (RFP) pricing process.
    • Perform database queries and configure the data in a format that Management can use to review vendor performance.
    • Manage various special projects and analyze productivity metrics in order to identify common issues and trends.
    • Other duties may be assigned.
    • Mastery of transactional sourcing activities.
    • Understands how to analyze large data sets and extract valuable information and tracks trends.
    • Able to build quantitative models to support decision making.
    • Evaluate and apply the concept of total cost of ownership (TCO).
    • Holds manufacturers/vendors accountable to perform at a high level and tracks their delivery performance using historical performance data and reviews quarterly with each business review (QBRs).
    • Demonstrates a collaborative approach with internal stakeholders in delivering business outcomes.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Strong knowledge of utility vendor base both in product offering and applicable market position.
    • Proficient in Excel for data manipulation and analysis.
    • Work history of successful software utilization of latest technologies in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visual Studio, Tableau and SharePoint.
    • Working ability to operate within the Eclipse ERP system and associate to internal Irby reporting (Intranet and DSP).
    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
