    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Vallen’s Solutions Sales Lead is an individual contributor that supports the sales strategy for the safety vertical product category.  They work with existing, new and prospective clients to effectively sell the features and benefits of safety solutions and cost savings opportunities.  They are subject matter experts and are sought out by other sales and/or marketing teams to enhance Vallen’s business opportunities and assist in achieving profitable sales objectives within the vertical product category. Position requires the ability to effectively engage with safety manufacturing suppliers, safety manufacturing representatives groups/agencies, Vallen product marketing/direct Marketing, Vallen sales management, Vallen operations teams, Vallen field sales, Vallen inside sales to promote respective lines/goods & services that are offered by those organizations. Identifying hazards throughout the workplace, within Vallen customer base, to provide effective & profitable solutions with the intention of promoting and increasing the respective site's goals and objectives.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Produce profitable sales growth within the safety vertical product category; achieve target sales goals and assigned adjusted gross margin 10% growth threshold; achieve all assigned productivity, profitability, and market penetration goals.
    • Develop profitable sales strategies; develop strategic business plans that support approved product and/or business strategies.
    • Partner with safety product manufacturers and suppliers to align goals and objectives for profitable sales growth.
    • Work with customers to understand their business objectives and pain points to effectively link product features and benefits to the customer’s needs to promote product sales, solutions and cost savings; close sales opportunities.
    • Prospect and close profitable business opportunities with new customers.
    • Provide product knowledge and demonstration during sales calls, trade shows, or as requested; describe product features and value-added benefits to solicit new business opportunities and entice sales.
    • Continuously analyze and review industry trends and client feedback to anticipate future market needs for safety products.
    • Design and/or facilitate safety product training for customers and/or other Vallen sales associates; demonstrate expertise in terminology, features/specifications, applications and benefits.
    • Assess pipeline and sales activity to identify, assist, and manage product presentations, features, and requests.
    • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal support groups (e.g., marketing, business development, proposal and quotation teams, etc.).
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

     

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

     Relevant work experience includes:

    • Demonstration of safety product technical expertise.
    • Demonstration of sales, financial and business acumen.
    • Success in sales, marketing, purchasing, and/or pricing roles.
    • Specific vendor and/or product training, certifications and/or special recognitions may be required.
    • Proficient use with various Microsoft Office products. MS-Word, MS-Access, and MS-Excel required, MS-SharePoint, preferred.
    • Must be a self-starter, work independently with little supervision, and have demonstrated effective time management, project planning, goal setting, organizational and execution skills.
    • Be able to provide excellent customer service and demonstrate strong problem resolution abilities. 
    • Possess the skill set to perform certain types of training that follow OSHA, ANSI, NIOSH, NFPA or respective agency/organization guidelines.
    • Skilled in the sales process from start to finish as it relates to prospecting, selling, promoting, marketing and development of capital sales projects, services and products.
    • Proficient in the use of a CRM system
    • Two or more years in the Safety Industry, preferably in the Safety distribution category.
    • Certifications within the Safety Industry.
    • Safety management a plus, but not required.
    • One or more years’ experience within the manufacturing industry.
    • Data management
    • Safety Training or general occupational type training experience.

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor’s degree in a related field, e.g., Marketing, Business, etc. coupled with 10+ years relevant work experience. 

    • Demonstration of safety product technical expertise.
    • Demonstration of sales, financial and business acumen.
    • Success in sales, marketing, purchasing, and/or pricing roles.
    • Specific vendor and/or product training, certifications and/or special recognitions may be required.

    • May be exposed to facilities subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations (hot in summer, cold in winter) and conditions (dirt, smoke, concrete surfaces, etc.) when viewing and/or demonstrating products.
    • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • May be required to operate various forms of hand-held measuring devices
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
    • Long periods of time working on a computer and performing repetitive key-boarding activities is required.
    • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand and may include little to no advanced notice.
