  • Responsibilities

    Under the general direction of the Director Systems and Networks and in coordination with El Paso Health’s CIO, leads the design, implementation and support of systems architecture, server maintenance, enterprise applications, Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN & WAN),  Intra/Internet connectivity and telecommunications.  Participates in the development of policies and standards related to systems and the network.  Leads the efforts in SQL Server maintenance and database administration.  Designs and implements scalable solutions for El Paso Health.  Performs performance tuning and tasks associated with network support, systems maintenance, and application performance in a local and wide area environment.  Troubleshoots server, software, or hardware problems for network-based systems, new installations, and project implementations. 

    Oversees inventory control program and manages the software licensing and distribution to ensure licensing compliance.

    Required Skills

    1. Strong written and oral communications skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of hospital personnel.
    2. Knowledge of hardware and software requirements in a managed care environment and ability to translate administrative needs into appropriate support programs.
    3. Good inter-personal skill and abilities.
    4. A good working knowledge of organizational structure and information flow.
    5. Extensive computer experience, both on hardware and software.
    6. Ability to work independently and as a team member while using discretion in decision making.
    7. Sound judgment in problem solving.
    8. Capable of handling change and stressful situations.
    9. Comfortable with conflict resolution and negotiation.
    10. Knowledge of electronics and computer equipment maintenance.

    Required Experience

    Work Experience Five years of experience with network, hardware, software and electronic equipment installation, support and maintenance operations required, of which three years of experience should be managing Microsoft Windows networks and Active Directory, and one year of experience with routers, switches, and firewalls is required.  Must demonstrate a high degree of proficiency with SQL server implementations, maintenance, performance tuning, and administration. Proficiency in the use of network monitoring tools required. Must have experience in clustering and load balancing technologies and have working knowledge of back up device set up, use, and maintenance.

    License/Registration/Certification MCP, CCNA, or equivalent certificate preferred.

    Education and Training Bachelor degree in a computer related field required.
