    ASSISTANT OPERATIONS MANAGER

    Oshkosh, WI

     

    As the Assistant Operations Manager the candidate we are looking for will assist the Operations Manager in the coordination of daily operational activities at a Regional Distribution location through providing leadership and guidance to all operations departments including city desk, shipping, receiving, project services, warehousing, delivery, and administrative functions. Provide superior service to our customers through direct customer contact, sales collaboration, and support of operational processes.

    • Assist in the supervision and provide support to the city desk, warehouse, drivers, and administrative associates. Assist in day-to-day operational functions as needed.
    • Maintain collaborative relationships with sales managers, account managers, project sales, and account representatives to provide consistent, responsive, and innovative service to the customers. Meet with customers when appropriate with regard to specific orders or projects in order to help accommodate unusual or complex requirements.
    • Understand and assist in delivery functions-routing, manifest, order scanning and fleet maintenance.
    • Assist in and understand the ordering of facility and warehouse supplies.
    • Understand and support all safety policies and procedures.
    • Assist in training, coaching, and developing of city desk, warehouse, drivers, and administrative associates. 
    • Oversee productivity, daily workflow, and quality standards, along with supporting a cohesive operation across all shifts and departments.
    • Assist in monitoring and managing location’s inventory control, including on-hand balance adjustments, stock locations, returns, cycle counting and yearly physical inventory.
    • Assume the duties and responsibilities of Operations Manager when absent.

    Required Skills

    • Strong organizational skills and able to prioritize and delegate multiple tasks
    • Strong communication, sales, and customer service skills
    • Good PC skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) , Email & Internet Use
    • Ability to handle pressure
    • Experience/knowledge of warehouse equipment and machines
    • Ability to work across departments
    • Strong reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Knowledge of or ability to learn and enforce DOT rules and regulations
    • Ability to interpret, understand & enforce policy and procedures and relate them to others
    • Strong managerial & leadership skills, ability to motivate team and manage conflict
    • Ability to learn supervisory skills. Ability to influence staffing, performance review decisions, mentor and help with the development of staff

    Required Experience

    • Experience preferred in a high-volume environment of operations, distribution, or logistics. Sales/city desk experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of VE’s systems, processes, products, and market knowledge preferred.
