    Benchmark Space Systems has an immediate opening for the position of Mechanical Engineer (Thermal Analyst).  Applicants should have a 4-year degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM field with at least 5 years of professional experience.

    This engineer will be responsible for working under the direction of the engineering department to support contract deliverables, new IR&D efforts, and proposals for future work.

    Required Qualifications:

    • BS degree in relevant STEM field.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience using thermal analysis tools (Thermal Desktop, SINDA/G, SINDA/FLUENT, ANSYS Workbench, etc.)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Due to federal contract obligations, must be a US citizen.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
    • Experience using aerospace standard design tools (CREO, SolidWorks, etc.)
    • Experience with space vehicle thermal design and/or integration.
    • Familiarity with satellite mission CONOPS.
    • Experience working with chemical propulsion systems.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead analysis, modeling, simulation, and assessment of designs relating to spacecraft thermal control systems and components.
    • Perform thermal analysis to develop and optimize thermal control designs for small satellites and propulsion systems.
    • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
    • Report analysis results and design specifics to management and external customers.
    • Work and execute independently with minimal technical oversight.
