Benchmark Space Systems has an immediate opening for the position of Mechanical Engineer (Thermal Analyst). Applicants should have a 4-year degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM field with at least 5 years of professional experience.
This engineer will be responsible for working under the direction of the engineering department to support contract deliverables, new IR&D efforts, and proposals for future work.
Required Qualifications:
- BS degree in relevant STEM field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience using thermal analysis tools (Thermal Desktop, SINDA/G, SINDA/FLUENT, ANSYS Workbench, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Due to federal contract obligations, must be a US citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
- Experience using aerospace standard design tools (CREO, SolidWorks, etc.)
- Experience with space vehicle thermal design and/or integration.
- Familiarity with satellite mission CONOPS.
- Experience working with chemical propulsion systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead analysis, modeling, simulation, and assessment of designs relating to spacecraft thermal control systems and components.
- Perform thermal analysis to develop and optimize thermal control designs for small satellites and propulsion systems.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
- Report analysis results and design specifics to management and external customers.
- Work and execute independently with minimal technical oversight.
