Job Title: Music Teacher, Benhaven Academy
Reports To: Director of Benhaven Academy
Salary Range: $58,000.00 - $106,000.00 per year, exempt
Hours: 37.5 hours
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Purpose of Position:
This is an opportunity to work with an educational team, in a small school setting, that is excited to enhance the lives of their students by providing opportunities for learning and enrichment. The position is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week, 12-month exempt position, this may be negotiable as a 10-month position. The music teacher is directly responsible for developing and providing specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with autism spectrum disorders, pervasive developmental disabilities, and a variety of other disabilities.

Responsibilities:
• Demonstrates knowledge, understanding, and application of music standards and curriculum.
• Administers school music curriculum which aligns with the school mission.
• Utilizes repertoire of all types of music as appropriate learning opportunities through which students can analyze and evaluate artistic expression both intellectually and emotionally.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student musical learning and progress and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student needs.
• Provides individual and small-group instruction as determined as appropriate and effective.
• Employs various teaching techniques, methods, and learning principles to enable students to appreciate and learn musical skills.
• Creates a positive learning experience emphasizing individualized instruction.
• Selects and requisitions appropriate music supplies and instrumental equipment, maintains inventory records, and ensures equipment is in good working order.
• Reviews and implements modifications, accommodations, and intervention plans for students.
Essential Responsibilities:

License/Certifications
• Minimum of degree and Connecticut State Certification as a Music Educator is required.
Experience and Skill Requirements:
• Must be able to pass a variety of background checks.
• Knowledge of music standards and curriculum.
• Experience teaching adolescents in music.
