The Daily Wire is looking for a General Counsel to join our Operations team. The Daily Wire General Counsel will function as the organization's main attorney and primary source of legal advice, effectively ensuring legal conformity and mitigating risk. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively manage legal matters of the business including but not limited to: legal crises, compliance issues, labor law, issues surrounding intellectual property, etc.
- Provide expert, strategic, and timely advice to the Bentkey Executive team on a variety of legal topics that relate to our business sector and products/services
- Review, research, interpret, and prepare both written and oral opinions on a wide variety of legal issues
- Anticipate issues and estimate risks strategically
- Identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks
- Proactively share information related to company legal matters with the Executive team to ensure they are kept up-to-date on activities, condition of the organization, and important factors influencing it
- Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts and agreements
- Manage and mitigate legal risks by designing and implementing company policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to our business
- Communicate with and manage any third-party bodies such as external counsel or auditors
- Meet assigned legal objectives
- Keep abreast of legislative changes
- Perform other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven understanding of corporate law
- Previous entertainment contract law experience required
- Must be admitted to a recognized bar
- Must have a law degree
- Ability to develop legal strategy and objectives
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity
- Excellent judgement and analytical skills
- Previous professional Executive and leadership experience preferred
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a highly autonomous role
- Self-motivated with goal-oriented approach to managing responsibilities
