    Job Description

    BERGMANN GROUP HAS AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY FOR A PROCUREMENT MANAGER. THE POSITION IS BASED OUT OF OUR PHOENIX, AZ FACILITY AND WILL SUPERVISE A TEAM OF PROCUREMENT PROFESSIONALS SUPPORTING OUR MANUFACTURING FACILITIES IN PHOENIX AND NOGALES, SONORA. REGULAR / BI-MONTHLY TRAVEL TO OUR NOGALES FACILITY, WHICH IS ON THE BORDER AND A 3 HOUR DRIVE FROM PHOENIX, IS REQUIRED. THE PROCUREMENT MANAGER ESTABLISHES PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES, CREATES SUPPLY CHAIN PROCESSES, LEADS NEGOTIATION STRATEGY, ENSURES COST ACCOUNTABILITY, AND OVERSEES DAY-TO-DAY ACTIVITY FOR THE PROCUREMENT TEAM.

    THE PROCUREMENT MANAGER MUST BE READY TO HUSTLE, INSPIRE, AND DRIVE INITIATIVES ACROSS OUR PROCUREMENT TEAM. THIS INDIVIDUAL IS MOTIVATED BY BUILDING THE FUTURE AS A STRONG PEOPLE LEADER, CAN DIG DEEP INTO DATA, AND IS ALWAYS DRIVING PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS. WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE THAT IS STRATEGIC, HIGHLY OPERATIONAL, AND OBSESSED WITH DEVELOPING PEOPLE.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • DEVELOP, COMMUNICATE AND EXECUTE SUPPLY CHAIN STRATEGIES, INCLUDING SUPPLIER SELECTION, SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPLY BASE CONSOLIDATION.

    • BECOME AN “EXPERT USER” IN OUR M2M ERP AND CRM SYSTEMS.

    • ESTABLISH ANNUAL COST DOWN TARGETS AND DRIVE RESULTS TO CONTINUALLY AND SYSTEMATICALLY REDUCE MATERIAL COSTS AND INVENTORY LEVELS.

    • UNDERSTAND COST DRIVERS AT OUR SUPPLIERS TO OBTAIN LOWER COSTS WHILE ENSURING HIGH QUALITY.

    • IDENTIFY, QUALIFY AND TRANSITION TO LOW COST SUPPLIERS USING A “TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP” ANALYSIS TO AID IN DECISION MAKING.

    • APPLY LEAN SUPPLY CHAIN PRACTICES (EOQ, SAFETY STOCKS, AND REORDER POINTS) WITH THE INTERNAL SUPPLY CHAIN AND WITH KEY SUPPLIERS.

    • MONITOR SUPPLIER QUALITY AND DELIVERY PERFORMANCE; ESCALATE ISSUES AND DRIVE ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS AND CORRECTIVE ACTION WHEN IMPROVEMENT IS REQUIRED.

    • BECOME AN INTEGRAL MEMBER OF THE NEW PRODUCT DEVELOP (NPD) TEAM WITH A FOCUS ON SUPPLIER SELECTION AND MEETING COST/MARGIN TARGETS.

    • WORK ACROSS THE ORGANIZATION TO ENSURE SOLID INVENTORY MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES AND TOOLS ARE APPLIED TO MEET COMPANY OBJECTIVES FOR MATERIAL AND CUSTOMER SERVICE LEVELS.

    • ENSURE COST EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT LOGISTICS BETWEEN MEXICO AND THE USA.

    • IDENTIFY OPPORTUNITIES FOR AND NEGOTIATE LONG TERM AGREEMENTS (LTA’S) WITH SUPPLIERS THAT IMPROVE PRICE, QUALITY AND DELIVERY OF COMPONENTS, GOODS AND SERVICES.

    • MANAGES DEPARTMENTAL WORKLOAD TO ADJUST FOR SURGES IN BUYING AND QUOTING ACTIVITIES, SURGES IN LOGISTICAL MATERIALS FULFILLMENT, AND SUB-CONTRACT MANAGEMENT. THIS MAY REQUIRE THE PROCUREMENT MANAGER TO PITCH IN, AS NECESSARY.

    • MENTOR PERSONNEL AND ACTIVELY MAINTAIN SUCCESSION PLANS TO ENSURE CAREER GROWTH FOR DIRECT REPORTS.

    • LEAD THE EXECUTION OF PROCESSES, STANDARDS, AND OPERATIONAL PLANS IN SUPPORT OF PROCUREMENT STRATEGY.

    • MONITOR AND COORDINATE SUPPLIERS TO SCHEDULE OR EXPEDITE DELIVERIES TO ENSURE RESOLUTION OF PROBLEMS SUCH AS SHORTAGES AND MISSED OR LATE DELIVERIES.

    • ENSURE PRODUCT IS DELIVERED ON TIME, MEETS QUALITY STANDARDS, AND AT THE RIGHT COST.

    • MAKE RECOMMENDATION FOR PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS.

    • OTHER DUTIES AS NEEDED.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED COMPLETED.

    • 5 YEARS’ EXPERIENCE MANAGING DIRECT REPORTS, IN A PURCHASING, MATERIALS, PROCUREMENT, OR SUPPLY CHAIN FUNCTION.

    • 10 YEARS’ EXPERIENCE IN PROCUREMENT FUNCTION.

    • BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, SUPPLY CHAIN, OR OTHER RELEVANT AREA PREFERRED.

    ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • EXPERIENCE WITH ERP SYSTEMS WITH PREFERRED PROFICIENCY BEING EXPERT.

    • BILINGUAL (SPANISH).

    • ABLE TO GET A GLOBAL ENTRY CARD.

    • MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR BI-MONTHLY TRAVEL TO OUR NOGALES, SONORA FACILITY.

    • APICS CERTIFICATION OR EQUIVALENT PREFERRED.

    • EXPERIENCE IN MICROSOFT SUITE OF SOFTWARE TO INCLUDE EXCEL, WORD, AND OUTLOOK.
